Bought an aftermarket billet pulley for the water pump. Seems that you can't get the OEM pulley off without pulling the water pump, or removing the aluminum brace? Anyone got any other ideas?

It comes out of there....jack her up to the point that the front tires are off the ground and the suspension hanging free. Remove the four bolts holding the cross member. You wont be able to remove it but you can move it forward a half inch or so. Replace your pulley and then bolt the cross member back in BEFORE you let her back down.

Why did you get an aftermarket water pump pulley? Do the stock pulleys break?

Not that I know of. I got a good deal on a set of new polished billet pulleys to replace most of the stock ones. Pretty much just eye candy, but they are 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum.

Thanks for the invitation Steve. The car is still up on jack stands pending some minor mods (that hopefully will be completed this weekend). Of course, I have a 3 year old boy who might derail my plans at any moment!

Please keep me in mind for your next meeting!

I think my participation in this thread "jinxed" our 01...as I suspect the water pump is starting to fail.

The Wizard is mailing one to me...THANKS CHUCK!!!

Let the fun begin! :)
