Brought the bone stock 97 out for the new tuesday test & tune. Weather was hot & density altitude was 3000 ft+- Temp was 91

My best ET (not mph)run in this car @ Atlanta was a 12.09 @116.88 last march on 8 year old pilots. 60 ft was 1.941

Last nite I had the new Khumo street tires from Parts Rack. I usually avoid the water box & do a burnout dry. I Knew I was in trouble when the car bearly spun the tires!!
I lined up against the first Z06 , he red lit by.455 & I beat him at the stripe 12.37 to 12.43. I bogged heavy off the line & didnt get out of third with a 2.002 60 ft

It ran like that all nite (did 17 runs) Ran another new Z & 2010 Shelby & smoked them bad , by now I was was in the 12.2's where it normally was prior. 60 fts were now in the 1.9s again

The next run I went in the water, did a burnout & sidsteped the clutch @ 3000

Rewarded with a 12.127 @ 118.42 with a 1.798 60 ft! That was against a Turbo LS2 car .
Last run of the nite, I tried that launch again, It was flying , I was finally into the 11's OR so I thought. At the 1000 ft we were neck & neck, my foot to the floor then it fell on its face.

I ripped the throttle cable through the firewall! OUCH

It took a while to figure out what happened , with the help of a few twist ties I got her the 70 mile home.

Jon those Khumos rock!

Let me know next time you go. We can kick some butt together. Great times.

Its a new tuesday nite thing, Im doing the Summit series with my Pro car, When I founds out they canceled all events this month to repave the track again before the southern nats, I checked a tuesday out for the first time, it was great , all the runs you want , about 50 cars total , unlike the hundreds on friday nite.

No doubt there were some driver problems. But hey. These cars run hard and are hard to beat if you dont drive the way one should. Z-06s are faster but the driver does matter. Im sure the Z-06 owner was not happy!!

Do you think the driver mod might have something to do with mid 12's in a Z06? he he he.
Jamie ,I would venture to say you could miss a gear in your STOCK Z06 and still beat 99% OF THE STOCK Gen 2s OUT THERE .These threads are TOO FUNNY.

he's in an old 400 rwhp GTS that trapps 116-118 mph...if your Z06's were really 10.9 at 128 mph cars then he wouldnt have a chance no matter how bad the drivers are...

My buddies barely trapped 120 and I think he finally got a 121 mph trapp....Dynoed 455 rwhp so nothing wrong with it..Not saying 120 mph is the norm but neither is 128 mph..

GTS layed snake bites all over those vettes before he suffocated/ate/digested..and regurgitated them to race another day...:headbang::drive::headbang::drive:

12.0 at ... Weather was hot & density altitude was 3000 ft+- Temp was 91
seems pretty good to me. Z06 can't go 10s at that temp or that alititude.

Doesn't NHRA use a .4 correction factor at 3000'? Are your times with or without the factor?

Since you are blah blah blah without really knowing what you are talking about, I re-quoted the beginning of this thread in hopes that you willl read what the DA is as well as take the time to ponder that a different driver can make a huge difference.

Times are uncorrected.
I use an Altronics predictor with a weather station on my braket car. I had never used it with an injected car & was interested to see if the ecu took adjustments for the weather or would the DA change the times, & was surprised to see that the changes in DA did make a difference & inputing multi runs the Altronics, its predicted changes were right in line with what the car was running.

Hey Jon its good to ALMOST be back, what a cruel illness, to take driving away from ya. It Blows, but I refuse to give in. I am almost fit enough for a road course again(before the latest setback) so fingers crossed for the summer.
Have been having a blast with the Bracket car though, made it to the NHRA finals in year 1 with it ( only to lose in the 1st round OUCH) so I cant complain........too much.

Twister go to any fast major NHRA track ( such as Englishtown NJ )during any SPRING OR FALL public test and tune nights(hundreds of cars ) and you will see BONE STOCK Z06s trap around 128 all night long .Last year one of the Super Chevy guys was fooling around with one and was popping mid 11s at near 128 no problem on a cool night totally stock .I really dont know where you get your info from.

*** are you talking about???? He layed the smack down fair and square..jeeze..Weather they were in negative 1500 or positive 4000 ft DA's it would make no differance..he would have won..

Some of you should just sell your viper and by a vette like the other 40,000 lemmings a year...Then you can go to the vette site and post what ever you want and the other 3.8 million vette owners their will stroke your ego..

I really get tired of the stupidity....he beat two vette Drivers...Two cars that are supposedly 10 mph faster than GTS Vipers acording to Jamie and 1BadGTs...

If the Viper was trapping 116 mph this night then shouldnt the vettes have been at 126 mph by this stupid logic????

If you have ever been down the 1/4 mile then you realize that the chance of beating a 126 mph car in your 116 mph car is nearly impossible..They could have a 2.4 60 foot and then redline 3rd gear and still beat you down the 1320 on one of your perfect runs..

but guess what..they are NOT that fast..Those same magical tracks were they claim 127-128 mph 1/4 miles..stock GTS's have hit 121-122 mph and stock srt10's have hit 123-124 mph...

Your talking 6 mph faster than the GTS MAX!!!!!!!! OP...look at your slips against the Z06's..Were they trapping 10 mph more than you..Or was it more like your 116 verses their 120-123 mph...

And OP...Sorry for being long winded....I just hate the..You beat the driver crap....Just a BS excuse like a turbo leak or bad gas ect....

I get it from the same place as you..And guess what..Only like 3 of the 30K Z06's out their have ever even touched 128 mph..

RANGER who is probally the best Z06 driver in the world has only hit up to 127 mph...

The few that have touched 127-128 mph were all in 1500 PLUS negative DA's....It would be like letting your car sit on the dyno for 3 hours and then starting it and doing a dyno pull on a 70 degree engine...Sure your stock Z06 will touch 470 rwhp..But do two more runs and let the temp get to 200 degrees..Suddenly your at 445 rwhp....

These negative DA's provide just that..While the rest of the country is raceing at normal engine temps of 200 degrees..

I didnt buy this crap two years ago..And I dont buy it now..

Because its not published DOES NOT MEAN IT DOES NOT HAPPEN as i said your really need to get out to a world class dragstrip AND OBSERVE what these cars are running BEFORE you open your mouth.I was there personally when the mag record was set in a Gen 2 of 11.7.I set up the test of VCA Pres Joe Houss Gen 2 .I was also there personally when Super Chevy tested one of the first new Z06.Flat out your DREAMING if you think a stock Gen 2 can run with a Stock Z06 (EXPERT LEVEL DRIVER in both cars )same day at the same track. You disagree with Jamie and the mans got the record in both cars (over 6 tenths difference ).
