Went to the track the other days and fell a little short of my 10 second goal with a best run of 11.2@131 on a mediocre 1.84 60ft. I'm wondering if I'm shifting at the optimal RPM though. It seemed like my numbers improved after I turned down my shift light RPM a bit. On my best run I was shifting at 5600 which puts me at about 4200 in the next gear. My car has a Roe blower and the torque curve is pretty flat from about 3500 to 5300 with peak torque at 4200RPM. At 5600 the torque has dropped about 50ftlbs.
Does 5600 sound about right or would it make sense to try dropping another 100 RPM an positioning more squarely in the torque range?

Well it depends on the car and how's it's making power NA or FI or a shot and where power is made.
Your likely to get a mix of answers as some will say it's not point to shift when the power is declining or then others will say just because it's not making peak power doesn't mean you shouldn't shift after that point.
Looks like your doing it right, by finding that sweet spot for ur application by moving up or down by 100 rpms increments. I personally would never shift above 6k regardless if my viper was still making power in fear of the oiling issue bur that's just me. A couple 10ths isnot worth a blown engine to me but again I don't drag race for time.

I ran my Roe car right up to redline before shifting. Ran 10.85 @ 134 with a high 1.8x 60'. Where did you run? The slippery Rock?

This was in Brainerd last wednesday. My car is pretty similar to your old car with about 650/650 but the DA was at 2600 and my cleanest run was with the car pretty heat soaked. Perhaps the lower RPMs are costing me but I found that when I went higher in the RPMs the car was harder to shift smoothly and I found myself bumping the limiter. Hoping to try again in a week or two.
BTW, what kind of launch technique did you use on DRs with the gts?

Change your engine/trans mounts to woodhouse. Should help with the hard shifting. Hate to go from 2nd to 1st instead of 3rd.

Slip the clutch in first to control wheel spin, wind it out, bang second gear. If you can't hammer second without spinning or wheel hopping, you're not going to run a very good time.
