hey guys, im new here. i dont have a viper, but certainly wish i did!!

im actually looking into swapping a viper t-56 into an older foxbody mustang. the viper t-56's already have most of the upgrades to handle serious power (as im sure you all already know:headbang:). my only issue with the swap is the electronic speedometer, the trans im going to be picking up is an '06 viper t-56. on some other forums people had mentioned that the older vipers (i assume early 90's) used mechanical speedo's, can anyone confirm this?

also, did they use the same output shaft through all the years that the t-56 was used in the viper?

thanks for any help you can offer! hopefully one day i'll be able to afford a viper, they really are the complete package:drive:

Believe the T-56 trans from Vipers 03 and up takes its speed indicators from the ABS speed sensors...there is no cable feed from the transmission....

Most 2003 trannys did NOT have the provision for the speed sensor. But in order to make warranty replacement easier, 2004-2006 T56's have the provision for the speed sensor. If you have a 2003, you can see where you'd need to drill (and add a tone ring inside the tranny) to make it compatible with a gen1 or gen2. This process is pretty easy so don't fret. But yes, the Gen 3's sense speed from the ABS system.
