Would love to throw a wicked cam in my 06 FE. I wish more viper guys did heads/cam setups.

This is one area where the Vette/LSX guys just dominate over the viper guys. I know from experience. I run a 112 LSA cam in my Z06 and ran a 108 LSA cam in my old f-body race car.

yea I had a head/cam package on my 2004 vette and then I got my Viper..I was like..OK..450 rwhp stock so just a quick head /cam change and Im at 600 rwhp..But when I searched it was nearly impossible to find info..almost everyone goes FI

So what's stopping you? I'm not certain what your post means........your not going n/a because everyone else isn't doing it? Are you going to do the work yourself? To some extent who cares what the LSA is, it's what works that counts. Trust me on this, what works on the LSX based engines doesn't apply here. The Striker heads proved that to me. Call Greg Good or Jeff Morys and stop worrying about what the other guys are doing. You will love your car after the transformation, nothing worse than the sound of a stock Viper to a gearhead. By the way, most guys go forced because it's cheaper initially and that's the same with the Vette guys.

Well Thanks for that. He did say he spend a whole lot of time porting them.

Are your heads installed yet?

I'm just waiting on my intake/valve covers to come back from the powder coater tomorrow. I should be able to fire her up this weekend and tune next week. Did you run into issues when you were degreeing your new GG cam? I had to install an offset bushing in the timing sprocket to get it to 109 degree centerline. Greg, as always, came through with that for me too. Can't wait to fire this up!

going heads and cam is done all the time with zero issues on vipers. not nearly as popular as on a vette but there isnt anywhere near as many vipers around... call greg good or jeff morys

Right now whats stopping me is lack of research. I am definitely staying N/A though.

Last time I researched was in the fall. It was very difficult to find any information on this forum from others who have done heads/cam setups.

I'd like to compare a couple different packages before I throw one on my car. While I'd love to do the install myself, with lack of time I'll end up taking the car to a specialist.

I really hope more people post up with their heads/cam combos and results. I completely understand though that there are magnitudes more vettes out there than vipers, and thus much more aftermarket for the LSx setups.

You have to ask Todd owner of A&C performance those questions. He is performing all the motor work.

I bought the cam Greg recommended. We did speak about going more aggresive but after weighing the pros and cons, from the experts in discussions this one seemed better overall.

Lets see how it proves on Todd's Dyno Dynamics machine next week and with driveability. Stay tuned.

Who needs a cam that yields another 15rwhp maybe best and likely cause idling issues on a weekend street car!

Comp Cams hydraulic roller:
3634 intake lobe / 232 @ .050" / .600" with a 1.7 rocker
3635 exhaust lobe / 236 @ .050" / .605" with a 1.7 rocker
114 lobe separation, and order it with 4 degrees of advance ground into it.

Call me a **** but Im just gonna leave my cam stock and have greg touch the heads/intake manifold..

To me even in stock form all my Vipers idle just as bad as my cammed c5 did..So I cant imagine a cammed viper???

Please post a vid diapa when all is said and done

Where is a good place to learn what all the cam specs mean? Would this aid me in what the difference is between a blower cam/na/nitrous cam (if there is one)?

Usually the bigger the lift and duration numbers the more power..but less drivability

Heads and Cam are in!!!


I am a bit concerned due to stock pistons.

Todd did say he will go easy bumping up timing.

I will say this. Although it be good to max hp im not really interested in having every last hp extracted with the SCT tune due to the stock pistons.

Breaking 600rwhp would be nice though.


Lets all see how this stock bottom end motor will soon perform.

Twister, Bellangers, 3 inch pipes, no cats, Roe programmer, Roe single plate throttle body, K & N air filters. That's all. It's an 06, with original plugs and wires. I don't know how to put that box thingy around someones post, because I don't know much about computers, but I did just install more memory in my computer, SOOOO proud of me!

Good mindset and I agree...it's just a number on a dyno. I suppose if you were interested in winning a bench trophy for dyno numbers than go for 600+. Regardless, you're going to have a kick-ass setup that will be leaving a permanent grin on your face. Don't worry about hitting max numbers, just enjoy it! :)

Greg talked me into a solid roller 242/246 .650" and I absolutely love it!

Yeah, Greg also spoke to me about this cam... if i were gonna built the motor I believe.

Doesn't that cam have too much lift for a stock bottom end when raising compression???

How do you rate your idle and motor vibration if car was used as a weekend street car?

It would take a lot to learn cam specs. Mostly if you know the cam "overlap" you'll get an idea of the roughness og the idle. Overlap is the time spent with both intake and exhaust valves are open. Normally the rougher the idle - the more degrees of overlap and the higher the rpm that the camshaft works best at. The camshaft's 'centerline' is also important in setting the power curve's rpm. More advance means lower rpm power. Higher amounts of overlap decrease the "effective" compression ratio of the engine. Compression is needed to help with velocity, volumetric efficiency and combustion chamber filling. Heads, headwork, valve weights, shape and size all matter to the choice of cam design. The ramps speed opening and closing the ramp makes a huge difference to the power and a solid roller cam can add hp with the same specs as hydraulic lifters, but hydraulic lifter smooth out the idle and improve drivability and gas mileage as well as emissions.

As I tried to show above, cam design is complicated and best left to camshaft specialists. Many states require specific emissions levels at different rpm and throttle openings. Cam design is too difficult to learn and since most people normally only buy a dozen or so hp cams in their lifetimes camshaft choices are better left to the people that have cams and heads as their life's work. Specs are like dyno numbers and only an indication of their performance and useage.

ive driven in this car and can tell you its FAST and sounds great. he drives his car plenty, he will be able to tell you about it as a DD..... but id do it.

Other than an absurd price for the Jezel compared to T&D, I have no idea.

Im sure T&D will work fine for me.

In theory Jesel is a much higher quality set of rockers. That said, I had issues with mine that required me sending them back. Mine was an alignment issue with the Striker heads. I suppose most guys would have just bolted them on and never noticed, but then again I caught some other design oversight (non rocker related) that no other engine builder had noted to date either, go figure.

For jezels, a grand more than T&D better be higher quality. Sounds like Jezels had geometric fit problems with your heads. What would of heappend if you didnt notice that???

I thought Jesel's came standard on Stryker heads or was this a one-off event?
