Hope you set a good market value for it since I have one that looks just like it. The only problem I have is that I can't get myself to part with it.

Good luck.

For anyone who knows how special cars like these end up being worth a fortune,it is sad to see you having to part with it for this low(imo) price. Just a sign of the times. Great looking Viper! Good luck with the sale though.

The good news is I don't HAVE to sell the car. It is just time for me to do so in my own head after six years (maybe a Gen IV is in my future?). Now if we can just convince that wife of yours . . . (sent you a pm)

Update: car has "effectively" been sold for weeks, but I am now confident in saying "my car is sold" to a Euro buyer for full price. Mechanics of the deal are very safe so I won't be posting about how a Nigerian Prince stole my car. Drove the car down to Ace hardware today to get a key made. After six years I am so done with this car. Seven year itch a year early I think. :dunno:

Am I the only seller who would spend all day in a 95F garage detailing my car before the transport truck picks it up next weekend? It was theraputic giving the car one last clean up. I think I wanted it looking its best when it leaves for pride purposes. I hope it does America proud across the Pond. :usa:

ahhh sorry to hear that, the same guy was interested in my car as well but my car fell apart a few days before the wire transfer. I took it as a sign from God and started modding the hell out of it, I think you should do the same...;)

want to reply on this post.

I was the one who was interested in the car, but just pulled the plug out of this deal, because I suddenly was presented with a deal I could walk away from. (will post pics and specs of the car asap) I live in the Netherlands so being able to buy a car locally is a big plus. Furthermore the car is really special with low miles.

I really felt like an ******* for pulling the plug. Mainly because PhoenixGTS really helped me in getting the deal done. Anwers all my questions like I wanted and the car is also a really nice example. I can recommend anyone who is thinking of buying a gts, to take a look at Phoenix his car.

At first I was interested in 97snk's car. Love the color and mods, but car came apart just before we where able to make the deal. Felt **** offcourse, but needed to expand my views and came across the solid silver gts.

I really want to thank Phoenix AND 97snk for being a perfect seller and being so straight forward.

OK boys it is close to 60 days since I placed the ad for my 1998 solid Silver GTS, and a full 30 days now since anyone has contacted me with any interest (and that last person wanted to know if I would part out mods separately). It is not an emergency that I sell the car, but I would like to sell it. Any ideas as to how to make that happen?

1) ads somewhere else? I see there are many Vipers on Craig's list in my town. I can't see a VA ad doing better than the classifieds here.
2) reduce the price? Is this the only answer? if so then maybe #3 is the result.
3) give up and wait until next spring? I am assuming once winter hits in the north Vipers are harder to sell - so you are limited to Sun Belt buyers.

Suggestions?

I really think to just keep believing in it. You got a beautiful car, don't talk BS and as listed above already good on your price.

Why dont list it on ebay with a reserve?

I also think you must post the small videoclips you made of the car, that really shows inn what condition it is.

Good luck

(still trying to convince a buyer over here)

Put her up on Cars.com or Autotrader. That will reach a much lager audience than just posting on the forums as many people dont know these forums exist or how to use them. Add to that, we arnt exactly your target audience as most of us own Vipers. Sure there are some prospects floating around here but were talking about a few hits a day on your VCA ad as where a cars.com or autotrader ad would generate more than 10times the amount of hits daily.:2tu:

Forget about craigslist. That limits your target audience to your area. For example someone looking on the Philadelphia Craigslist wouldnt see my car in Delaware for sale even though im only a half hour away from em. Sure there are some specialised craigslist clone sites with advanced search features including an XXXmile search radius from your zipcode but the average person dosnt know about this stuff.

Ebay is another option. If you dont want to do the auction thing there is a new classifieds listing that is free.(limited to a 200mile search radius, but i'd rather do this than craigslist) Also 'buyitnow' or 'buyitnow-or-bestoffer' is also an option for paid worldwide ebay listing.

Nice set of mods on a great looking car. The right buyer will come along at your price. It just takes a little time in this market. Craigslist can't hurt and it is free. I have seen more high end cars on Craigslist in my area recently.

Agree 100% with autotrader and cars.com. The audience is much much bigger! However, I would also put it on craigslist. The biggest thing with that is, you have nothing to lose because it's free. Also, Dom is right about it being limited to the local area but, when I had my Viper on there, I got hits from all over the country on it. IDK how because I live in Panama City, FL which is a fairly small town (200K people). I know that if you google viper/craigslist and a few other key words, Vipers from all over the country on craigslist will pop up...guess thats how they found mine.

I ended up selling my Viper for less than what I wanted because I had a buyer with cash in hand and was wanting to move it quick. About 2 weeks later, this guy emails me (that saw my add on craigslist) offering my asking price...and he had the cash in his pocket. If I had waited just two weeks, I would have made a few grand extra. Bottom line, go ahead and put it on craigslist as well.

Good luck with your sale. I can honestly tell you that if my heart wasn't set on a B/W GTS, I would have already bought your car.

Regards,
Brent

Haha. I had a silver C5 Vert. Head/cam car. I LOVE silver. But, the first time I saw a b/w GTS I was done lol. The only reason why I ever bought my black GTS was because I got an INSANE deal on it about 15K under what it was worth at the time. But, in the end, I sold it to get a B/W. I'll ask around at the local car shows and pass the link to your sale around. Good luck!

OK here I am 4.5 months later, still unemployed and the car is not sold. I still have not done any advertising other than the classified associated with this site. I know I've hurt my chances of selling by getting into winter, but what are your suggestions for reaching Sun-belt buyers? Autotrader.com? Cars.com? Craig's List? And do you think Gen II prices are elastic enough that lowering the asking price would at least result in some calls?

Ebay will reflect the market value which SHOULD be 35k for this kind of car and mods. I would be very surprised if this car does not sell on ebay. You are going to get the exact same recommendations. If you have been putting it on ebay, AT and CL with no response...then lowering price will be the only option. I highly recommend a low reserve on ebay and watch the market dictate the pricing. People do tend to get attached to vehicles and items they want the more they watch, think and envision having it. That is one reason bidding can actually increase the price once multiple people "all want it." 35k is actually a realistic price. I think if you put it on ebay with a low reserve, you will see it sell for that price. Some people just don't bother with Ebay and they let their cars sit and I don't get it. I sold a 2003 stock mustang cobra with 35k miles on ebay in 2006 and had a buyer from texas fly in and drive it home. It sold for 24k and I paid 35k in 2002. All my local inqueries and people on forums thought i would be lucky to get 20k.

If you have already put a good listing on ebay with low reserve...then maybe I am really offbase. However, in another post, someone linked a RED 01 rt/10 which sold for 35k recently. It had less miles and stock (some may favour that). You have a GTS and good mods (some may favour that). This WONT sell for less than 30k right now so you have very little to risk in regard to selling on ebay as you need the money and 5k in the scheme of life is negligible. That is the way I would look at it. The WORST case scenario is that you sell for 30-32k and get 3-5k under asking but you won't be asking questions, will free up cash immediately, no more insurance, no more headache. That 32k you could have taken 4.5 months ago could have gained you more hypothetically in certain investments. Don't let a few grand impede your quality of life. Ebay will likely get you 34-36k and will DEFINITELY get you 32k...which is a STEAL. Just make a CONFIDENT ebay listing

Michael - Have you been making the rounds of the Phoenix area car shows and some of cruises (a couple of Vipers are joining the Ferrari club up to Payson this weekend). Slap a nice for sale sign on the car; it ought to sell itself. But before it does let's go cruisin'

Very Nice car Phoenix & good luck with the sale. Was it your DD, I seen where you had 38k miles on it, what will be your DD now if so.
I have driven the car about 11k miles myself over 6+ years. Years ago I did daily drive the car, but now my daily driver is a 2006 SRT-8 Jeep Cherokee which I really like.

No boost but tasty modifications well done. Here is a link to the ad:

Solid Silver 98 GTS - ViperClub Classifieds

Had the car for six years and gotten it to a great place. Now I am trying to adjust my career and having additional $$$ in the bank is very comforting.

Great car and excellent price. Too cheap IMHO.

Needs clear fog light lenses. Kinda stupid to ruin the fog lights IMO. I think there is enough silver on the car already.

Wouldn't make a lot of sense since there are no fog lights back there. You think this is why the car hasn't sold? :omg:
