Please post pictures of your racing seat installed in your SRT10 Viper. A few members posted about a cobra (lotus) seat, an aluminum seat and a carbon fiber seat, but no one has posted any pictures of these seats installed..
Come on viper racers, your help and feedback is needed :drive:
Thanks in advance..:2tu:

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures but this is mine. The doors close without rubbing the seats and they sit as low as you can go and still see out :rolaugh:

Hey Mark,

If you could share some details with us it would be appreciated. Seat type and model, mounting brackets, etc.

FYI,

I've asked JonB to try and get some info on the ACRX seats and their mounting brackets. Apparently, they are modded comp coupe brackets - not sure on the seats. He's working on it as I believe many of us would like to install race seats in our ACR's / SRT's.

I had to make custom brackets to fit them. You could use a set of generic sliders and fab up a plate to mount them but I wanted them fixed and light as possible. Mine took 68 pounds out even adding the harnesses into the mix.

These are Ultrashield road racing seats, available in a number of widths. These are bottom mounted so may not be ideal for some. I do mostly Autocross and track days no wheel to wheel SCCA so they are fine. I remove them for street use though.

The ACR-X seats will not work in the regular Vipers so no reason to look. The "wings" are to wide and will rub ******* the doors. The mounting is also a nightmare since you can't reach any of the bolts once the seat is in place and if you do get it in you won't ever want to take it out :rolaugh:. There is 19" of seat bottom width to work with and most seats out there are that or more for the composite ones, believe me I tried like hell to get a carbon seat that would fit the car and "me" to no avail.

These seats being bottom mounted and thinner overall at the bottom go right in with room to even get at the snap in harnesses! The shoulder width is 19" on the stock seats, try and find ANY composite seat out there that is less than 20". Beyond that they will all rub through the door panel. These seats I have can be "tweaked" to fit there without rubbing issues.

They take some fabrication but are SO worth it as far as control and comfort in the car.

Mark,
Thank you for the pictures... seats look great. I might go with the same seats.
Yours are the 18" ? do you have the 10 or 20 deg angle ?
Do you know the weight of each Alum seat ? and weight of each stock seat ?

I was also considerng these carbon seats from REVERIE:

16" bottom width only ... and 18.5 shoulder width... so they should fit, and weight at only 6 lbs each.
But your Alum seat looks like it has better side support, and wider at the bottom (more comfortable)
Thanks for the great info...

Dan, i spoke to JonB about the ACRX seats as well, funny how so many ppl did, waiting for his reply as well.. it would be nice to get a direct bolt on seat/rails, and the Viper logo on the seat completes the package.. but looks like they might not fit without rubbing..

I had seen these also and LOVE them but my F** A** won't fit :lmao:

Tillett Racing Seats - Home Page

These guys make some beautiful seats also but the same applies. :curse:

Good luck on your quest, let us see what you go with. The 18" seats have a 10 degree lay back the smallest amount they have. I like to sit more upright in the car than most. I would say the seats are about 12 pounds each. I saw a 68 pound decrease in overall weight.

I have always used the Cobra Suzuka GT Kevlar seat in my race cars and LOVE it for support and comfort, even daily driven. It's wings were too wide by about 3" so you would have to cut it down. Also getting to the mounting hardware because of the width of the base is a horrible job. Think 10 times worse than installing a 2" seat kit!

I traded a few emails w/racetech. They say their RT4009 or RT40009 W will fit a Gen III/IV. They are side mounts and are not a direct bolt on to the stock seat rails. I'd bet they can include the viper logo if you want.

I have seen these installed and they will rub a hole in the door panel. They are a real pain to install also and very narrow for most driver profiles FYI only.

What are you guys doing with your Gen III/IV seats when you go to these? Are the racetechs any better in a Gen II as far as rubbing?

. Don't burn me at the stake for posting a Vette, but I've got Corbeaus in my C5...really like em. Great lateral support (stock Vette seats are a joke in comparison).

For anyone with a waist of 38 or greater, you'd need the Corbeau wide. Those Corbeau seats are 24cm in width across the shoulders.
Like most other seats, they wont fit in a viper without cutting out part of the door panel.

I just ordered a pair of the Sparco tec seats from saferacer. They are not too wide in the shoulders and should fit in nicely. You'll get a racey look with a functional semi-race, semi sport seat with functional 5 or 6 point harnesses and major weight savings without having to cut into your beautiful viper's door panel to make them fit. I will post a pic once theyre installed.

Theyre on sale right now from $525 regular price each to $475 each and includes free shipping.

Sounds like you already have a seat picked out, but here is the Racetech installed in a Gen 4. The side bolster has to be trimmed and you need to fab a bracket, but that is

easy to do.

Just found another seat that might fit the Viper SRT10 ..
Check out the Bride Exas III seat. Bride Super Seat

It has a shoulder width of 20" (510 mm)
and a bottom width of 18.5" (470 mm)

Looks like it will fit ... anyone care to try it out :)

I test fit the Corbeu FX-1 Pro and it seemed like it barely fit, but would fit.

However, I ordered a suzuka S seat for the comfort. I should have it mounted next week w/pics.

The issue with most seats is the shoulder flares. From what I read, other people have just trimmed them down to fit, otherwise they rub the door if the door panel is still installed.

the seats are very comfortable, have been on 2 hr drives with them, no problems. I'm 6', 185 lbs.

I made the door panels, they are the stock panels covered with c/f (an now alcantara on the top)

very nice job

thanks to both of you. I was chasing the SL look, you're right. Here's a few pics of the interior, before I did the leather surfaces in alcantara. I'd post pics of that, but I have the car apart (last pic)
