Maybe you should go see your doctor as well, you may be getting headaches and repiratory problems from the smoke smell when you drive, a god doctors note can go a long way....

On the other end of the spectrum there is a place in Ronhert [park that does the OZone stuff and they are pretty good. I don't think your insurance co will write the car off though,, they can fix the smell for $5-$10K and your car (from what I have seen) is worth at least $12K

Thing is, I'll bet you find out it is not just a smell problem. Your paint has been discolored, your guage faces have been discolored, you've got soot in the A/C-heater vents, etc, etc. There's more to this kind of damage than just the smell.

Then..... how did the fire company put the fire out? Water damage? Chemical fire retardant damage? Those things may not show up for a while.

I'd let insurance know real soon because thr longer time passes the less likely they are to take you serious.

Save all your receipts from any cleaner business or anything else.

Maybe you can apply them to the insurance deductible if your insurance company covers you.

You touched a very good topic of discoloration of the paint, the front fender and whole noose of the car was exposed to the high heat, however, paint does not show any cracklings in it just yet.

I was reluctant to take on a smoke damaged vehicle at my shop. It was a full size suv. the rear seats caught on fire and damaged just the seats and thats it. The rest of the interior was sut and smoke damage. They found an interior out of a salvage vehicle. We replaced everything on the inside and i mean almost everything: seats carpet headliner, any interior panels, dash even the all the hvac and duct work. We had it stripped down to metal and cleaned it several several times with every cleaner from a-z. Put activated charcoal in and let it sit. SOMEHOW it still had a smell to it. IT wasnt just stout but had a hint of something to it. The customer was fine with it but i wouldnt have been. I told them to let the insurance company know if they had a problem with the odor but they said it was fine. So if i was you I would tell the insurance company they can clean it however they want to, but if it still has an odor or any other traces of sut and smoke damage that they should have to total if it doesnt work. I dont know how bad yours is so it may not be that big of a deal. Just thought id let you know that smoke damage is like a bad in-law who just seems to never leave.
