We were really excited to see this 1.33 edition Viper come to us to prepare for the Global Tuner Grand Prix at Laguna Seca.

We looked the car over and came up with a balanced package that would put this car in the ACRX league and still keep it in the street car class. Our first goal was to improve the power. We started with a custom exhaust with catalyst, ported intake manifold, Mopar controller, air oil seperator and finished it off with a Carbon airbox inlet. Results were 591rwhp.

With good power numbers we wanted to focus on the driveline, suspension and brakes. First we added our billet steering rack bushings to improve turn in and road feel. Next we added a Woodhouse transmission mount to reduce driveline flex and replaced the rear end with a "superlock" unit for ultimate traction. The shock dampening was changed and the car lowered to "rough track' specs.

We wanted the car to stop well with improved linearity and repeatability, so we upgraded to 15 inch front brakes with 6 piston calipers, braided steel lines, Motul 600 fluid and a pad combination that was matched front to rear.

We knew we needed some serious grip and had to use DOT tires, we chose a custom set of CCW race wheels, 12 inch wide front and 13 inch wide rear, 18 inch. The smaller wheel in the rear would improve the gearing. Hoosier R6 tires were the DOT choice with 315's in the front and 345's in the rear.

Next we wanted to improve the safety and provide some data-logging for the driver. We added a Exoticraft weld in rollbar, custom Parts Rack Teamtech belts, Clear bra body and window treatment, an AIM MXL dash and smart cam system. The system has a GPS for lap times and a playback feature that shows engine parameters on the Video screen.

The car has numerous other features we hope to share. Lets see if we can beat the Laguna Seca Record of 1:33. Thanks to Garry Grant our great customer and we wish him the best at the track!

How did the offset on the CCW wheels look, will the tires clear the fenders under full compression? I have seen some ACRs at Sebring have fender contact on turns 1 and 17 due to aftermarket wheels.

BTW, thanks for posting, car looks awesome.

Nice mods. I would recommend a good racing seat, quick release steering wheel, and fire suppression! Oh, and the A6 is faster than R6. Also, I think you forgot to add 'DCP heads' to your list of mods (I have never heard of 591 with just intake, and you say your dyno is conservative, so I am guessing your heads are on it). Can you post some pics of the Exofit rollbar? How much wt does it add?

Boxer, I'm curious as to Dan's answer on the "heads" too. A number of us get 570-575 RWHP with those mods on his dyno. I saw that viper Wednesday when I picked up my car with the new heads, mine made 601.

If I had to guess the rollbar weights 20 lbs? Dan would know better. Here's 2 pictures. Note the 2nd one I took, you need to move the harness bolt (belt side) back to the factory belt location as the bar runs right by it. Mike

Wow believe it or not I haven't seen the car yet. I am going to be driving it at Willow Springs this weekend with Dan and a Ross as my driving mentor. This will be the first time in the car and cant wait to get a few laps under my belt at Willow. I have been racing a MODDED 997 Porsche Turbo (630 HP) for the past 1.5 years and need to have something more challenging... I am positive that Dan has created the answer! Dan has named it the "Track Terror" I love it!

Thanks Dan for getting this car done for the deadlines!

Here is my schedule of upcoming Races:
Willow Springs Oct 9th and 10th
Thunder Hill October 16th and 17th
GTGP Podium Time Trial finishes Oct 22nd, 23rd and 24th .. 15,000 spectators!
Infineon October 30th and 31st
Portland Oregon "PIS" November 6th and 7th
Fontana AutoClub Speedway "ROVAL" 19th, 20th and 21st

Hope to see you their, come over and introduce your self and we will have some track fun!

Thanks for the comments. The factory airbox is more than acceptable and flows very well. We lowered the car to the rough track setting only to make sure we did not have any front tire rubbing issues, but we will see.

For the future, a race seat, fire system, monoball control arms and more hp are being talked about.

In regards to the power, the car does not have our heads. The numbers suprised us. All the cars with our heads or manifold have been tested with Tri-Y headers, this car has 5 into 1 merge headers and they just seem to make much more power.

SEO, I saw your viper on Wednesday and Dan walked me through the upgrades and told me it's built to beat the Laguna Seca record. Really like the colors and all the work you've done. Great choice to have Ross coach you.

Sorry we won't see you at Viper Days in Spring Mountain (10/23-24). Look forward to meeting you and seeing your Viper at Fontana in November. Best wishes on all your upcoming events. Mike

Car looks great. Any reason you didnt put your "heads" on it yet? 620-630 rw would suit that Track Terror to a T. Cant wait to see the results of this car regardless. I think that 1:33 is going down....Hard.

BTW this isnt necessary at all but just did a quick mock up of a red lip on those sweet black rims you are running. I do like them a bit better than the all red rims it comes with. It would tie in the black/red theme the factory was going for but without the loud overkill of the all red wheels. Did a quick PS to show what I mean.

For Laguna Seca GTGP this weekend,

Looks like a great collection of cars in the Tuner Car Class with

only 1 Viper ACR from Grant Racing. Good Luck.

Global Tuner Grand Prix

Looking at the GTGP schedule their is a Time Trial Event Sunday
seperate from qualifying.

Sounds like a race for the fastest lap times...
which will really benchmark the performance of these tuner cars.

here is some GTGP descriptions as well
