Before Gen IIIs & IVs were on the road. This is almost 8 years ago at Buttonwillow in Central California, we were part of a Relay Race, 5 car teams, 3 laps each. We had to stop in a box, a runner had to tag the car and run to another box and tag the next car to go. It was alot of fun, I remember running against Team Corvette, Team Porsche and Team Vintage race cars. We destroyed them, it wasn't even close. I got to run the anchor leg, I'm the black Viper on the right :D

What's with the guy in front of the red car? :dunno:

He was our "runner", after a car did 3 laps he hadda come into the Hot Pit behind a line, the runner had to tag the car coming in and run 30 or so yards to the out going car and tag it before it could leave the hot pit. We figure he played a part in our Victory so we let him in the pic. The Vette and Porsche guys were not happy they got whipped :D

I remember that! Thanks for sharing, Reb! . Can you add last names??

SoCal guys have always been trac-tive, from your very first officers the Cocholins as I recall.. Now, the SoCal Sidwinders are the epitome of a track-tive Region, with a lot of tracks to choose from.

It makes me wish this site had a "Vintage Viper" or "Memory Lane" forum, just for anecdotes and photos like this. I wish Dave Cawthorne could have contributed....but Big Brakes Dave is gone.... Note: The Gen 5 Viper could debut on the 20th anniversary of the FIRST! Do we need a historian / archive or both?

The photo above is 2002......but a LOT of stuff was happening in 94, and the 1st Viper Days was July 1995 (I have my plaque) First Viper Nationals was 1995....and Fla 1st VCA track date was Oct-Nov '96 at Moroso.

Ron,

I'm older than you. Get your self back out to the track. I spent the day at Willow on Sat. Two other Vipers there...whole bunch of P-cars.
