Noticed some guys have put fuel rails on their motors and was curious as to the benefits of doing so. Is there any measureable performance increase or is it more a function of other mods such as super charger, hi-output fuel pump, etc.?

Just want to understand if this is a mod to add to the list of futures or not. I did notice the new fuel rails being offered by Sean and wondered if there was an increased demand for them.

Thanks:headbang:

If you need them and don't have them: Blown engine.

If you have them and don't need them: No benefit.

Gen II oem injectors go static at approx 500 rwhp, that is the main reason injectors are changed. If you can get larger side feed injectors that fit, there would probably be less of a reason to add a rail.

Aftermarket fuel rails are used when a larger injector is needed. The production side feed injectors are not easily available in larger sizes, so many folks add the rails so they can use a common top feed injector in a larger size. The production injectors can be resized or replaced with hard to find bottom feed units.

In the old days when you modified your engine you installed larger main jets or nozzles in your carburetor or mechanical injectors. In fuel injected engines you pulse or "duty cycle" your injectors longer, raise fuel pressure or put in bigger injectors. In most cases this requires a new calibration for your computer.

Most engines do not need bigger injectors unless you have made major engine modifications or added a supercharger or turbocharger.

For most engine modifications a computer calibration can optimize your package. Please feel free to call us or any other site sponsor for this service.

Whew! Okay, so my net takeaway is I don't and will not need them. My plans for the RT are relatively light mods, nothing big internally and any type of sc (while I'd love to! :(). The most internal change I'm considering is 1.7 rr's and possibly cam upgrade from 708.

Oh, and Dan, I go back to the old days with Rochester and Holly carbs, when you changed jet size or even carb size (e.g., 780 dual pumper pretty popular back then)

Crossed off my list!

Thanks all for your feedback!:headbang:

so anything over stock paxton boost, it is needed.

No, not always. For Gen-3, the Paxton fuel system can supply a good bit more power with larger injectors than the Paxton system actually makes out of the box. While it is SAFER when you get to a certain point to just ditch everything and start from scratch, it isnt 100% needed until you head for the 750 threshhold. Before that, injectors will do the trick. Gen-2 is a little trickier, just due to injector size availability and smaller factory fuel line.

Do you need them with a Paxton setup on a gen 3?

gen 3 paxton kit comes with split second box and two extra fuel pumps that supply more fuel through increased PSI instead of larger injectors. Good for at least 700 rwhp, I've heard of people going over 800rwhp with the paxton fuel system.

The Gen 3's fuel system can support more power than the Gen 2. With the Paxton fuel system, FMU, larger injectors and a pump booster you can support close to 800rwhp. If it is a dedicated track application we would suggest a new fuel system.
