I have got 2 tickets on the water for my boat not having mufflers. It was thru transom exhaust with water. Once in Lake Elsinore and once in Parker.

Thats to bad. You have to admit that its pretty random they pull anybody over, unless they just want to hassle you. On a busy weekend in Havasu I am sure over 50% of the performance boats run straight pipes.

I guess now they are going to start writing tickets for cranking the music as well.

That *****. I have a 28ft magic deck boat with a 525HP merc racing engine with straight exhaust. In Havasu I never have a problem, but I think It just depends on the lake and if the rangers wnat to mess with you. On lake Pleasant I got a crimial ticket for pulling a skier in a non ski area:(. I had to take a class for two days. Got it dropped, but waste of everyones time.

If your at the sand bar or some large gathering like that the cops will most likely tell you to turn it down. They dont like that they cannot "police" the situation if there is a problem.

Re: Ilmor projects.... The lil' bird told me they are working on a supercharged version with around 1000HP. So dont try and supercharge the one you have, hold out and buy the new ones done. :2tu:

RE: everything else,
They have to control everything and the lakes are getting it next more and more.

Tickets: It all depends on where you boat and the cops attitude at the time. They already give tickets for loud music, ******* ($400 each- Havasu) and mostly stupidity.

Noise: My boat (1700 HP) is fairly quiet at idle being my exhaust runs down through the transom, but when I’m up and running the exhaust is all out there. :) Never had a ticket and the cops were almost disappointed when I started it. Besides, they have strict rules on testing as well. They have to be so many feet (I think 75’) away, with no obstructions (like docks, other boats) nearby to get a true reading. Technically they have to do it out on the lake to win in court.
As it sits right now, if you’re over 500HP (factory authorized and certified) the EPA is not nearly as strict. I have no cats on my boat.

Speed limits are a whole other topic that will arise.

My 2007 36' Eliminator Daytona Coupe is powered by twin stock Ilmors. I've seen 123mph and have been subject to silly noise restrictions, and have yet to get a ticket. I have enjoyed 230 issue free hours on these motors - and to date they have been the most reliable motors (marine, or auto) that I have had the pleasure of owning.

I wish my Viper sounded like my boat. :headbang:
