2004, just under 10,000 miles. Red.

First thing I did was drive through some canyons to get acquainted with the car. I have never driven anything like it. The handling feels so good. It is definitely what I would call a drivers car, much like I assume an Elise would be like... but with a whole engine ;) In a few months I'd like to take it to a track where I can safely learn its limits.

We have two road trips planned for this year, Monterey for the big car weekend, and maybe Utah to see the National parks there.

I plan on getting new tires very soon, and for the first month I'll drive it as if I'm driving in the rain - very carefully.

Nice Gen III, I am also looking for one now to replace my 1994. Just be sure not to test the limits on public roads ;). Just like you said, go to the track first. The car has much shorter notice to lost control than most others. Enjoy

Congrats and welcome aboard! Take it easy for a while and learn to drive it while respecting what it can do...with the runflats it's not showing its true colors... Get some PS2's ASAP to complete the experience!

If you have the stock tires make sure you replace the run flats with some PS2s. It saves lives.

Just kidding. It's awesome!
On some areas of 1-15 the speed limit was 80 MPH.
Welcome to the fun and congratulations on the Viper.

Jay I am happy for you! people will start comparing it to the Z06 and Zr1 and what have you but don't go down that road... Vipers are just gorgeous to look at and they are more rare. love it as she is...she will love you back. watch out for the turns because she can bite and strike all the sudden.

Cars come and go,the girl is for life ;)

You are right, $25k will be hard. It's very custom, but if the right person wants what I have done to it, it will be a bargain. I'm not in a huge rush to sell it yet, but I do need the garage space.

I'm still a Corvette lover deep inside my heart so I welcome the comparisons. The Viper is a different animal, and I think it was the best choice for me. Maybe in 10 years I'll be tired of getting beat up, and I'll get something more civilized like a new Corvette, but for now, I can handle the abuse :)

I think once I get the PS2 tires, the ride will be less abusive. they made a night and day difference on my Corvette.

I bought my 2003 last April, and I still grin like a kid every time I'm in it. First thing I did was buy PS2s. If you're still on the original ZPs, replace them asap.

Congrats, she's a beauty.

Jay, congrats on the new ride. I just bought my 03 in Jan and plan a road trip to Monterey too. I have friends in Carmel Valley and lived in Monterey, Seaside and Carmel for three years. Thursday nights during the summer, Baja Cantina on Carmel Valley Rd they have a nice little cruise-in and BBQ. I used to go out there every week. I'd fly out of old Ft Ord back route by Laguna Seca, take Los Larales Grade over the hills and end at Baja.

Are any beautiful parts of Utah, Viper accessible?

Here's a bit more about the Corvette for anyone who's interested:

You can access all of the parks in your Viper but you need to walk once you get to them. Having a Vert out there would be awesome. No OHVs are allowed in the National Parks. We flew into Vegas and rented the Jeep. We drove out to Kanab which is where they used to shoot the old Westerns. We took day trips to the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion etc... I drove 1,900 miles in 8 days... I rented a Teryx and did a day on the Paiute trail. While the Viper would be neat for a few days you really need an RV with a toy hauler to take full advantage... It's just too vast and beautiful.
