I've been lusting after a used Gen 4 Viper vert for some time now, it's kind of become a hobby in itself. It's now part of my computer ritual to hit the classifieds here before I go to the forum. Since my current auto fun budget is somewhere not north of 60K, it ain't easy to find a nice low milage version in that price range, despite the dismal economy. A further constaint of hoping it to be reasonably near my Florida home base isn't helping either.
Apparently I'm NOT alone, as I have spotted three nice possibles on the usual websites in the past week or so, which is unusual, but all three were sold pending funds by the time I called. This is a new personal best for me, and two of them I called the same day the ad was placed. The hottest one was a supposed pristine black vert dealer trade-in Birmingham @ $55.6 K that seemingly disappeared from the sales gal's computer screen as we spoke on the phone. So people are out there looking aggresively, maybe it's the springtime, but I'm beginning to feel like a Daytrader.;)

You can set the classifieds to notify you everytime there is a new listing. You even see it before it's approved and visible to everyone. And you can set this feature to the specific category you are interested in. FYI

Never knew that was available. How is it done?

I was hoping to find something for under 60K in the Florida area as well, looked for a few months, got close in lower 60s for pricing. I have access to the Manhiem auctions down there as well, 2 cars went in the last 3 months down there, with around 10k-12k miles and needed about 3k-5k worth of work to make them mint. Both cars sold wholesale for 61K. Gives you an idea of the market these days.

Prices always go up in the Spring / Summer... If you can't got north of $60k, just save your pennies and buy one in the Fall/ Winter. Should save you $5k-$10k IMO, especially if there is news of the Gen V.

Please consider buying a higher mileage Viper to get a good car in your price range.

Not sure why mileage hurts the resale price so much, as Vipers tend to have the potential to accumulate lots of miles with little undue effect.

On most high maintenance exotics, I can understand the desire for low mileage, but for Vipers, not so much.

I was recently told my 09 Viper has high mileage as it just turned 13,000. These are not finicky Lambo's they were built to be driven not drooled over. Living in the Tampa area we have a lot of Viper events with our mild winters and I add a few hundred miles everytime we attend one. The last cruise to St. Augustine I added 400 miles to the total. I still do not understand the obsession with super low mileage Vipers.

These cars are overbuilt and very heavy duty. Get under one on a lift and you'll see it for yourself. I'd have no problem trusting a Viper that had even 100,000 miles on it, if it was maintained properly.

If you are not getting the cars you like, try adding more $$$$ to your offers or go for a Gen III! It is not always easy to get something for nothing... .

Guys, my OP was just a frustration rant over the fact that I spotted 3 different low milage black 08 viper verts in the past week or so for $ 55.6K, $59.9K & $63K which is highly unusual and enough to make me buy either of the first two on the spot if they were as described and at least check out the third, only to be told they were all sold, and I called the 1st day of the ads on two of them. Very frustrating.
I know there are Vipers out there that don't fit these parameters and are still great cars, but I look at my future Viper as about as close to a good investment as I'm likely to find in a car/toy and want to start out a certain way to maintain the likelihood. Another factor is that I already bought one car toy new in 08 and the wife loves it and won't let me trade it in towards a viper so my fun money fund is limited. :drive:
