Looks great the way it is! :2tu: If you want to just spend several thousand again, I will give you my address and you can send me a check! :) That way you will not have to feel bad you wasted more money on another paint job, you can drive the car, and you would make me feel a whole lot better about both of us. :)

Don' cost that much to repaint only about 500 since i can paint it myself.

looks perfect now

No it is a 20 foot paint job right now. Looks great from 20 foot but if get up close it looks real bad.

Then maybe you shouldn't paint it yourself?

Before starting a totally new paint scheme... You might want to ask someone to Photochop the scheme on a vert.

I think you gotta ask yourself what went wrong last time that the car doesn't look good up close. Also you are looking at coupe/ACR paint schemes with wings & aero. Does the same paint scheme look good on a vert?

One of the best repaints I ever saw was Neckbreakers Lambo Orange with no stripes... That car drew a crowd everywhere it went...

I have seen his car in person at button willow 2 years ago my car was black then. The reason my car looks so bad now it the paint i used was not very good and i had to rush it near the end so i could move back to az. now i have access to a paint booth now. I also took some painting classes and learned better ways of doing the paint. I think i'm just going to do the car in GTS blue and no stripes just because i love that color.

Please, never discourage anyone from doing something new or learning how to do it by actually doing it. I can paint my own because I decided to do it. I can rebuild chevy small blocks at home because I decided to do it. Don't let anyone stop you. Go for it! The American Spirit lives on.:2tu:

I can't tell from your post what is wrong with the paint. Is it that you don't like the way the stripes are or is it how the finish came out? Having worked in a body shop (long ago) and being taught by a senior GM trained craftsman, it was hammered into me that its all about preparation, preparation, preparation. You cannot hide prep mistakes with paint (well maybe very light ones).

If your prep was good, then I believe that (as long as there is sufficient clear coat), a good wet sanding and buffing can solve lots.

Of course, these comments are all based on speculation on my part. If I am off base, please excuse me.:eater:

But, I do think your car looks nice in the picture above!:headbang:

I see... Well, go for it. If you like GTS Blue go with a single silver ACR stripe.

Or... since the car has been repainted, why not open up your possibilities? I mean ask yourself this question: "If I was painting a sports car and I could choose any color possible, what would it be?"

That question makes me think... what would a Viper look like in Hemi Orange? If you like blue, Ford has a great blue (don't remember what they called it but it was very bright), also, Mitsubishi had a great blue back when they built the Starion/Conquest--that may have been the best blue I ever saw on a car.

I agree... I've painted cars too.... and practice does make perfect! I just think I'd start on small projects like my 1969 TR-6 that I painted.... big nuggets to take on a Viper for practice!

I did see you painted the dash pieces GTS Blue.... I just picked up a 2006 SRT roadster in GTS Blue (apparently 1 of 88 according to the registry) and I want to paint my dash the same. How did you prepare them for the paint?

I don't blame you for wanting to make it perfect. Personally, I think you got a great paint scheme now, so why don't you just try to perfect that one?

Last weekend I hunted down an electrical issue on my Viper and after 6 hours total time to find it and fix it, I went to bed that night thinking about ways I could have made it cleaner.. I got up the next morning, went to the store and got exactly what I needed to splice the several wires perfect and spent an hour and a half redoing them.

The fact that nobody else would have seen it did not matter to me.. I knew what it looked like and what it could look like and it made me feel a whole lot better redoing it.

Make that paint job good and you'll have two things to be proud of, your beautiful Viper and the fact that helped make it beautiful! :2tu:

I sanded it with 320 then 400 grit and use bulldog to make sure the paint would stick to the plastic.

I really love GTS blue so i bought the paint already. I'm going to luke air force base today to check out there paint booth just to make sure i have everything i need to get to get it done right this time. The main reason i don't like the paint now is that it is not gts blue like it was suppose to be. The person that mixed the paint got it wrong. I love the stripes but it took me 10 hours to get them strait and i just don't have the time to do that again. I used to work in a cultured marble factory that is were i learned how to spray but with gel coat witch i have been told it much harder to spray then auto paint.
