I walked away because there was a huge gap on the rear trunk lid and left rear fender where the light and rear deck meet. The gap was excessive and it looked like it could not be tightened up because both pieces were the cast composite.

Has anybody experienced this and do any of you guys out there know if this can be corrected? I opened up the trunk and it does not look like there is any way to move the rear tailgate over to the left as it looks like it is part of the rear trunk. I am not sure if the left rear quarter panel can be moved a bit to close this disgustingly huge gap.

The dealer said that they would talk to their body shop guys.

Hopefully build quailty will improve with the new Gen.........all 4 Gens have lacked the build quailty that a 100k car should have

Jim,
I could not believe the quality. My Gen 3 does not have any issues like this. Did you notice anything else wrong with the car. all I know is it is going to take a heck of a lot of work to get out the swirl marks.

Kenric, I totally agree with you.....you are absolutely bang on.....one thing, my Gen 3 sure did not have this type of build quality issues. Its stuff like this that drives me crazy. I hope they can adjust it....but I'm not holding my breath.

From the looks of your "toy list" in your signature line you don't need another car anyway...;)
George...thats funny but I am always looking to add to the collection....My fave so far is the Sonic Blue Lightning with 500KMs....It really is a rocket for a truck. Way more nimble than the SRT's.

Try uploading your pic with tinypic.com because we can't see it. I don't have any panel fitment issues with my Vooodoo. I've attached a pic of the rear.

Great pic now I can describe exactly where the problem is. It is the top of the left hand side vertical gap ending 3" to the left of the silver strip on the spoiler just on the lip of the trunk. I will take a pic of it on Monday and post it. I am not sure if this type of issue can be fixed otherwise it would have been corrected at the factory. The gap on your pic looks great so it is obviously not a casting problem.

I couldn't get tinypic to work but did add an arrow on your pic where the problem was. saved it as a JPEG but now can't load it back onto the net. I could send you a PM though.

I would like to see this picture, haven't noticed any unusual gaps on my '09 ACR.

So the trunk is sticking out (toward the rear of the car) on the left side?

Garron, I never noticed that but will go there on Monday morning and look at it and take a few pics. The gap was bad though but maybe it can be adjusted/compensated? From what I could see it could be a tough adjustment.

KWIK96....the weather has been brutal with the snow not being melted by Chinooks this winter. For the first time I can remember the snow has stayed all winter with no meltage.......The season is short but the driving around here is incredible especially the run to Jasper from Calgary.....hwy 93 north. A great run.

You have a lot of adjustment with the liftgate. The liftgate hinges on the body side use slotted bolt holes (Under the rear headliner). If you back off these nuts you will find you have a lot of movement. Just fully open the lifgate and with the nuts loose push (very) slightly (one hand) on the lifgate as if to open it past its limits. The liftgate will slide forward. If you let it relax on the shocks it will slide backwards.

The rear quarters have a lot of play in and out. If you take the bulb covers off there are two bolts you can loosen and push the panel in or out. Feel free to print this out and give it to them. (I am a Chrysler technician in Ontario)

This car just needs adjustment, just tell them you are interested if they fix it.

All the panels on my 09 ACR are good....my only issue is the headlight fit on one side isn't good....the light and rubber trim are a little higher than the surrounding bodywork compared to the other side....doesn't bother me too much.....
