HEY A.J. Kevin here. I have a red rt10. I use Meg.'s products. Is this fair to say? M105 AND M205 is like Adams Swirl and Haze Remover and Fine Machine Polish?

I should use 105 with an ORANGE pad and 205 with a WHITE PAD? ( Lake Country pads fyi).

Ever use Collonite wax? I have 915 I think. I also have Megs wax.

thanks, Kevin.

PS. I picked up a halogen lamp/light 1000 watts INTELLITECH? Is that a good one? Got it from Lowes for 50 bucks. (orange stand).

M105 is like Adam's Severe Swirl Remover which is used on a green pad. M205 is like Adam's Fine Machine Polish and yes, it is used on a white pad. I have never used the wax you have but I have heard of it. As for the light, I can see every swirl in any kind of paint with a 500W halogen. I need no special lighting tool to see paint damage. I don't know why those things sell.

It probably won't do much, especially if you have never paint corrected the car before. I would never start with M105 unless the car was thrashed beyond recognition. I would start with Swirl & Haze Remover.

SHR is like m105 YOU SAID RIGHT? If so why would I start with that? too hard/rough, no?
my car was painted 2 summers ago...but it has alot of scratches/swirls from improper wash/dusting etc..

What color pads do you suggest A.J.? Lake Country. For minor scratches/swirls? Orange? Yellow? Green? with 105?

then 205 white.

THANKS!

SHR is similar to 205? green or white pad?

A.J.- I also pasted this from the MOL boards- Mike Phillips said the following-

"Meguiar's doesn't recommend using cutting pads with a dual action polishers. It's true that a cutting pad on a PC will remove defects, but because of the oscillating action of the tool, they tend to also scour and haze the paint. The same cutting pad on a rotary buffer will produce a clear finish on paint, but when you change the action of the tool, the results change also and in this example the change is a negative result.

We have proven time and time again that any defects that can be removed with a dual action polisher can be removed using our W-8006 polishing pad and a cutting pad isn't necessary if you're using good technique. Thus there is no reason to use a cutting pad on a dual action polisher.

If you follow the directions and advice from the manufacture of the cutting pad that sells you and recommends to you to use this type of aggressive pad with a dual action polisher, or you get this advice from someone on another detailing discussion forum, and you run into trouble... "

So do NOT use my LC orange or yellow pads on my viper paint with the PC? JUST THE WHITE AND BLACK AND GREEN LC PADS?

TYIA, Kevin.

SHR is not similar to M205 or M105. It is somewhere in between. As I stated above, M105 is similar to Adam's Severe Swirl Remover. As for what Mike Phillips said, I can somewhat agree but I would need to discuss it with him to get a better understanding as to exactly what he means. I don't know how much of what he is saying is true and how much of it is pushing the Meguiar's line but one thing I do know is that the process I use works, and it works on Viper paint. There are enough members here who have tried the same things that I do with plenty of success. Mike Phillips is well respected in the detailing industry and I would never claim to know anywhere near what he knows about this stuff. He does however, work for Meguiar's.

Now I will say this. You are trying to mix and substitute different products into a technique and proven process that works using a named product and tools. Instead of trying to use everything but what you see used, why not just do it exactly as you see it done using the exact same thing that you see being used?
