Absolutely not. Too many variables and possibilities. You may have the fastest car in the world, but if your motor blows, or you blow a tire, or some other act that has nothing to do with your car's capabilities....bye bye.

If I was driving something like a GTR or Porsche TT, I might think about it. In something like the Viper, no way! If you're in a car with very easily repeatable numbers, it's totally different than being in something like our cars. Not even counting the things mentioned by C, there's just too many tiny driver errors that could be made the driver of a high HP, rwd car that could cost you the car.

C.Hermsen, I feel EXACTLY like you do. I watch that show sometimes & could not imagine ever doing that, even if I had a car that ran in the 9's, I guess I love my car too much to take that kind of chance!

Way too many variables. Maybe if it was vs a car that I had a lot of knowledge of, and was given enough time to check it over to see all the mods done.

I think theres a member on here that has a couple of Vipers that runs in the 8-9 sec. range BUT he put automatics in both of them. To me thats the ONLY way you could be consistent in the 1/4 mile.

No. Of course not. It's stupid. All it proves is one guy lies better than the other. Same car, same track, same day and I'll compare my skill against another, but two different cars? No. Racing is all about cheating, just like all the other sports nowadays.

Yes,

But I would be the guy whose cheating, anyone that is seriously asking for this type of race always has something up his sleeve. Have known street racers that had 2 identical cars, first one is the one that beats you then its swapped out while your going around the block to make sure cops are not following you. Second is the one that you inspect to make sure it does not have mods beyond previously agreed on. My bet is that you also have no idea who this guy is or how fast his car is, correct?

If I had stupid money, could easily replace the car without any heartache, and if who I'm racing is a good guy (or gal) who would die to own a car like mine, I might give him/her a shot at greatness.

Otherwise, hell no for reasons already mentioned.

I'd have to ask my bank if it's ok first since they presently have the pink slip in their possesion.

I've seen fairly unassumng Mustangs that run in the 8's on the street. Toot many variables in ones own performance AND too difficult to assess the time/capability of the guy you're running. A true run for pinks in street cars (that haven't been torn apart by the opposition and fully assessed) would be the bastion of two pretty wealthy guys basically spinning the wheel of fortune to see who's walking home.....

No...

First, there's always a faster car, and they don't always look fast, and second, I stink in a straight line... hands down. Know your limitations LOL

I might run my 95 GMC pickup against a Lambo or Ferrari in hopes that he breaks down but that would be the extent of my foolish car racing for pinks.

Yes, if I knew I was going to win! That means they already know they're going to beat you.

First off, this is the Gen I/II forum, not the PINKS section of the VCA. Learn how to post correctly before you doing any racing in a viper.

RevHeat, I AM SO SORRY(maybe one of the admin. would be kind enough to put it in the general discussion section), If not then it has to be ONLY in a Gen I or Gen II, NO Sandbaggers. Or should that have been said in the sports section! Or is that the Alley that has the sports section, you've got me all confused now. Theres Always ONE in every section. JMO

Should we all send you a rough draft of our post so you can tell us if its forum worthy or not before we post?
