I looked on you tube found a few videos , but on a gen 2 wich supercharger do you guys find has more of a whine whistle of it?? Paxton or Roe???? And on a 02 gts seeing as i dont have forged pistons, i guess i can only run 5 psi max?? And will the motor hold up good w/o any issues at only 5 psi? What kind of hp would i be looking at for a gain at 5 psi?

You should hear my ROE 2.8 with the DW pulley...sounds like a Cobra Terminator. 5 PSI is fine for your car. You'll add around 100-150 depending....You won't get much whining on the 5 PSI ROE however.

Nothing sounds as good as an old GM 6-71 blower - but about the closest you can get to that is a Whipple-style blower (Roe uses them).

The Whipple blowers have an interesting sound to them - not the high-pitched whine of the old 6-71 blowers, but a cool 'rhythmic' sound that's hard to describe. I think you have to hear it to appreciate it. To me, the Paxton blowers just sound like a flex fan or a brand new rebuilt alternator :)

Just watch the classifieds and you can usually pick up a complete used Roe setup for $5k-$6k.

You can go with the 5lb or go up to 6.5lb if you run water/methanol. I have the 6.5lb and have run it since that system came out with no issues (other than tuning). No matter what, with cast pistons you have to keep an eye on the tune and make sure that your A/F stays in the safe zone. Some people assume the 5lb is safe, but I have seen people pop their pistons if they didn't keep an eye on the A/F over time and temperature. A wideband A/F meter is your best friend.

The Video is INSANE! If a used Roe setup goes for 5-6K, what does a used paxton go for? I think I may have seen them as low as 4-5K any less? Also which is easier for a DIY install?

Also heard you cannot buy new Roe. Is that true? Heard they went TT on everything......

used paxton kits are roughly the same price. the roe is easier to install but the paxton is not that hard to do.

Happy,

I have a 2000 GTS ACR with: 2.4 liter ROE (Keith Black SC), 1.7 ratio rockers, VEC II, water/**** (w/m) injection. The car came with 6.5 psi pulley and tuned on w/m. I went back to 5 psi and tuned on gas only. Now use the w/m to keep the intake charge cool only (not for performance gains, but for track day events). Car makes 520 WHP and 528 lb.ft.torque. Modest but reliable.

I will be forging the bottom end next year and will go to the 2.8liter ROE SC and other performance stuff (cam, lower comperssion ratio, head work, etc.). In the end I can go with 8-10 psi and really make the power. Will still ony tune on gas and use w/m to keep things cool. I am expecting between 750 and 850 WHP and tons of torque.

The ROE sounds awsome, espescially without cats. Now running all B&B exhaust parts (3").
