I stopped to fill up the tank, got in the car, turned the key... NADA, nlthing, as thbough the battery was missing. Looked through the rear bumper and the positive terminal corroded and boke in half where it sattaches to the termnal. So, my question is. How ans the hell do I get TO the battery to replace the terminal. All I kow is you have to remove the wheel to get to it.... well, I've got the wheel offf, and I see no access panel or hatch to access the battery.

Your help wouold be GREATLY appreciated. I'm in the boonies..... and I do mean boonies. I'm gonna have to do it myself and I have about an hours worth of juice on my phone (fir internet access) once my phones dead, I'm screwed.

Since you put this in the SRT10 section I'm going to assume it's a Gen III or Gen IV ...

In the trunk on the left side, lift up the carpet. You'll see a panel with a bunch of screws in it that is on the floor. Take out the screws and lift the panel. Viola, battery.

uh, knowing what I'm driving would help geet the ball rolling ..........SRT-10, '04..............

excuse the brain fart, To say I'm a little freaked would be an understatement. 20 minutes from the Mex border in an extremely remote area where people seem to disappear on a frequent basis does tend to up the pucker factor.

Like a one legged man in an ass-kickin contest....

Anyone here ever worked on their Viper in the dark, wearing armor, a ballisitc helmet with my NOD lit, and an M4 & sidearm locked and loaded within arms reach?

I have (and am still at at it)......

Open the hatch, on the drivers side [left side] there's a panel on the floor that's just a little bigger than the footprint of the battery, it has like 6 or 8 screws and they are of the torx variety if they are the stockers, like 30's I think if I remember right. Just lift the carpet and take out the screws and lift out / remove the panel. FYI the wheel well thing is a Gen 1/2 thing. Gen III / IV are trunk access.

If you have an 04 you are doing the wrong thing in the wheel well, you need to lift up the carpet in the trunk and the battery is under a recess on the left, you need to remove the torx head screws to get the panel off.

Us south Texans are prepared at all times. Where it sounds like he is, he better find the screws. What one would assume are cow paths down there are actually paths made by illegals. There are that many, and it is constant.

Guys, It's been 2 hours since we last heard from Jimster (I don't think he's having alot of fun) especially from where he indicated he was. If anybody's close it probably wouldn't hurt to check on him! jmo

Sorry for not posting a SITREP, but I hauled ass and have had a busy day.

The short story......

I had a couple vehicles stop and ask if I needed help, both within a few minutes of each other. Without going into detail, my BS meter started twitching like a MF after the second vehicle drove off so I called 911 and a BP/DHS contact. Needless to say, Uncle Sugar was johnny on the spot. And as alway, seeing a bad-ass car up close ALWAYS puts a smile on peoples faces. I think they enjoyed the opportunity to check out my ride as much as I appreciated their presence.

fwiw.......there's areas along the Tex/Mex border that are as dangerous as it gets. About the only difference between it and certain sections of the Afgan/**** border areas is the lack of IEDs and heavy caliber weapons. There's **** going on along our southern border that would shock the hell out of people if they were aware of it. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of good, honest, hardworking people down here. The caveat is there's an element that would cut your thrroat and take your property in a heartbeat if given the chance. The way they see it, you're either a threat (LEO/MIL/.gov, etc) or prey. They're not stupid....... if you're on their turf, you're sure as hell not there for a sightseeing tour or vacation.

Glad your okay and have it all under control... My brother lives in Austin and has related stories of many senseless criminal acts along the border.

Glad you are fine. Did you get a tow or actually have the right Torx? I guess that is a lesson for us to make sure we have that in our cars from now on. Do you live down in that area? If so, move...
