Why would you pay $36k extra for and ACR when it only costs another 10-15k now??
$36K for the 700-750 HP motor! The motor is currently the same in the ACR/SRT, so if you're willing to spend $15K for some extra suspension/wing etc. when previously buying an ACR, why not another $21K for an extra 100HP.
My point is this will allow the car to move forward to the top of the performance list with a 700+ HP ACR version and the normal Viper owners can still play in the viper game with a lower cost 650 HP version that can still compete with the ZR1 etc. This is all hypothetical (as is this $136,999 price) but hey, this seems like it would work.

I was looking at adding a ford gt to the stable earlier but couldnt justify the price. If this is true about the viper msrp, it just made the justification of the GT easier. I will continue to hold on to the gen II and gen IV.

I can see it priced that high if it has the CF body...
I'd pay it so long as the improvements are extensive. It better have range topping performance and they better not have cut ANY corners. The Clamshell hood was a Viper trade mark and they ruined it with the Gen III/IV. The SRT Coupe, while I like it, was obviously an afterthought done on a small budget. The new Jeep SRT had a huge price increase that was not justifiable IMO. I'd gladly pay it if I thought it was worth it. If SRT makes the new Viper worth it I'd buy it in a heart beat. The Viper does not really compete with the Gallardo, the 458, R8, etc. Those cars are in the middle of the pack performance wise (stock of course) and rely more on their brand appeal than anything else. The Viper doesn't have that luxury. It needs to be vicious and range topping.
700+HP, lot's of carbon and other light weight materials, clam shell hood, return of the exotic look, nicer interior, more advanced suspension and transmission, ultra low production numbers = worth $125k IMO

It will have my interest at $120K max. Anything higher, and I'll look at a Ford GT again. At least those go up in value...

If they are going to raise the price over 6 figures, I hope that it gets verified soon, so I can go pick up a Gallardo/R8 and TT it, and not worry about planning to attend the unveiling in New York. If I can't have a blue/white '13 Viper coupe for under $100k, then I don't want one. The Viper always appealed to me because it was so much car for the money, but they will send me running to other cars for $100k+. Just my $0.02...

Value will depend on the vehicle..I would not make a decision until I saw the car and what it is capable of doing. Like others have suggested, if there is EXTENSIVE use of CF (the frame and body), with 700 HP, then it would be a steal. I suspect it will be something less than that bcz I doubt CF frame and body can be built for that money.
Don't want a carbon fiber frame: cost to repair, etc. would be astronomical. Maybe aluminium? Carbon fiber bits elsewhere would be fine.
Anything over $100k should have 700hp +, and given the hp/trq of competitors, the price should still not exceed $100k by much for an ACR. Now, if Dodge/SRT does not want to sell very many Vipers because it is not a volume car anyway, then pricing might not matter--they can sell 50 of anything. If, on the other hand, they want these cars on the road and track and relevant, then pricing must stay close to the Gen IV pricing for all models. Economies of scale in technology should help pricing. A "de-contented" base model coupe and vert (i.e. smaller motor, brakes, etc.) vs. the ACR would dilute the name "Viper" and make the lower models something "less" than a Viper.

This is precisely correct. A Viper-lite model as an option would surely kill the great name Viper has.
No one can see a Viper on the road and wonder if it's the "base" model or the super car.
Save that dilution for the Corvette.

You all forget. What if this car comes in with original Viper knock out styling, say 750 hp, carbon fiber body weighing 3000 lbs etc.
I bet there will still be a line to get one. SRT got to start over with this one. I doubt that it will be close to a gen 4 in performance. Have some faith guys. And how often are cars sold as MSRP anyways?
Oh, and remember when a ram truck was only $10,000? Inflation folks. Even if the car stayed relative, cost would still go up.

Judging from the improvements made to the SRT-8 Jeep and the corresponding price increase, I am expecting the same from the Gen V Viper. Both owner groups were asking for the same things, more power, better interior, and better ride quality. I predict those items will be improved, and the base price will increase similar in percentage to the SRT-8 Jeep.
(therefore my wife will keep her 2009 SRT-8 Jeep, and I will keep my 2009 ACR)....

Now our cars are steals............ The fastest Production car in the world for around $100,000 has to be the buy of a lifetime. Yeh it expensive for a car but not for the fastest ever around the Ring its a steal.

I agree that nobody is in the know here. I got very tired of seeing all the different photos and mock ups that alot of people were sure or were secretly told new Viper will look like. Now its the price. I doubt the price of the car would be released or leaked so soon. I doubt the final price has even been determined yet. It would be great if we would just wait to see the car and see what it costs. This desperate obsession of speculation, being in "the know" or trying to be the first with advance "real" information is pointless. I mean I guess it gives us something to talk about and speculate but it doesn't inform with any reliability. Reminds me when we were all absolutley, positively, without question told by those in the know that the Viper was NOT going to be discontinued. Well we saw how that panned out. The car is coming back. Lets be excited and wait to see it. Then we'll know..... Sorry, I had to vent. Guess away.

For what it's worth, I for one think the new Viper will be priced at $103,824...This is based on a thorough analysis of Engineering data, previous posts, future regression analysis of the mean, interviewing a Dodge janitor from 1938-1978, ANOVA, standard deviation squared to the tenth pole, blah-blah, blah!

Sounds like a load of bull**** to me. I think dropping the base price would be a better move.
