Thanks again everyone. I really, really appreciate it. I am not as concerned with any little issues which can be cleaned up or detailed away. Like I said, I just don't want to miss something major.

In terms of price, every '96-'97 B&W GTS on cars.com, autotrader.com or ebay.com right now with a reasonably close mileage are being "listed" at $42K - $50K or more. And there are none listed here on the VCA website classifieds right now. Of course these are "list prices" and I don't really have a solid feeling for what these are actually selling for. I know I just missed a 5K mile B&W GTS in Chicago which as "listed" at $41,800. These prices are quite a bit more than what KBB.com says, but you know how that "Viper Tax" goes sometimes.

I'm trying to think through the history that might have occurred with this car. It's had a couple owners who certainly have had different driving styles and opinions on how to care for their cars. In that respect, I am not surprised to see a little pitting in the gas cap cover or areas that need a little TLC. However, when I think about a car that has been abused or shown an extreme amount of disrespect, I would expect to see things like:

*unusual dents or dings / scratches or swirls in the paint
*tears in the seat from simply not caring how one gets in and out of the car
*scratches in the bottom of the door sill and jam from dragging feet
*major scratches or damage under the front fascia
*side sills and rear fascia covered in rock chips or tar
*bald or poorly worn original tires

To me, these are things that tell a story on how a car was cared for even with low mileage. With a car that has essentially sat in someone's garage (which is what this car has done with only 9K miles on it), there are going to be things that attention. I guess it's just a matter of whether or not we can agree on a price that takes into account me being able to remedy these little issues.

Thanks again for taking a look at the pictures and going over everything for me with a fine tooth comb!

You can come look at mine. 8K miles, 1 owner, Tatorized. Mine is for sale, but not at 40K.
The Viper your looking at appears to be quite clean for an older car. The scratches on the fasia are normal.
The rubber around the door is oxidized.
The rivit your looking for may not be a rivit at all. It is mearly a screw that helps attach the side cover to the body.

Gladly sell you mine , 2200 miles, all factory except has a wing on back...there are pictures of the wing in my gallery. Perfect example of 96 ... I would like 45k for it, I having been planning on parting it out as soon as I am done building my new race car. So, if you want a nice low milage one, come and get it! Thanks! Ron

Selling mine as well but you have probably already seen it on Autotrader, just under 13k miles.

Thanks again for everyone's input. Unfortunately, the seller wouldn't budge AT ALL on the price and even added a $600 doc fee to the mix. Needless to say, I passed on the car today. Seemed to be a decent car and dealer, but i couldn't justify being $50K into the car after tax. Maybe I was expecting too much for too little? Any of you who offered up your cars to sell me, send me a PM with details. I'm back in the market! Thanks!

That Viper in Chicago has been up for a while. I called asking about in November and it was sold even then. I think the dealership is keeping the add up because it's generating a lot of attention for their website.

Why on earth would you part-out that '96 GTS? If it's that nice and low mileage... it should be saved. :omg:
