Wondering if anyone is annoyed that the Viper will be back in '13...Although I love the car I am just wondering if anyone is a lil' PO'd with the fact they bought the "last one" and then it was brought back from the dead.

I would imagine the flame-boys in the crowd are getting excited as they read this but whatever - Just curious, is all. If you are paranoid about publicly expressing yourself due to the flamers, feel free to send me a PM.

As an aside, most of the folks that have seen or heard about my car know the Viper is done - At least until I tell 'em otherwise.

Agree with bluesrt...it happens in MANY areas, not just cars...and not just Vipers. Admittedly 2007-2010 was a rough period in the auto industry, which made long range planning difficult!!

In answer to the original question....NO, it does not bother me in the least that the Viper is back. In fact, I'm all for it...along with a REAL factory backed racing program (remember the Viper's status, the sales, the VCA membership increases, etc. when Viper was a viable player in the racing world ??!!!!).

Do I need a new one? Can't say til it becomes a reality...and, that it IS a step up in looks and performance. One can only HOPE !!! :)

It was always the plan to stop production for a few years and then bring the Viper back.

Long live Viper, but the GEN IV is the last drivers version. At least I can have that.

^^^This^^^

As far as the general public or media knew, the 2010 were the end of the Viper. If you were in the Viper "community" already though, you knew they were already working on the next one. The only question was if it would actually make it to production or not.

Belive it was the intent of Cerebus to disconnect itself from Viper when they owned Chrysler.

Then Viper was put on the chopping block to generate some cash to stop the bleeding.

Then when things looked better, and Fiat got involved, the gears began to mesh again and Viper was destined to be reborn.

With a tremendous effort, by a bunch of dedicated employees, Viper was resurrected from the asked, and will be polished and honed to re-emerge as the reborn halo vehicle for Chrysler and SRT.

Welcome back Viper!

In a Tennessee hollow!
The only thing that annoys me is that Chrysler has missed several great opportunities to unveil the new car and get a lot of free publicity. But, we'll all see what it is like when it comes out and maybe it will make sense then. I just hope it is a better car at a reasonable price - and that they make convertibles! Thank goodness you didn't question whether it should have a V10 or you would be in real trouble!!! LOL

Jerry, respectfully there were several of us on waiting lists long before those articles for the Final 50 Edition being told " get it now the last 50 Vipers". I have been around cars long enough not to be naive enough to think the name /car would not return. However, there was a fair amount of puffing going on for sure .

Not only read the story I have the original in laminated hard copy. It came out after my order and it says to celebrate the Vipers final year of production. There is no question that the 2010 FEs were being marketed by dealers as the end of Viper. Believe me I was on 3 lists. At the time Dodge did nothing to disabuse this notion. It was several months later that word of a Gen 5 may happen. Not saying I was pissed but these are the facts. Ask Gastman, Jon B (never mind) Maurice, Ivan

Ill wait till I see the new one before I pass judgment. If its half the car everyone is bragging about then no, but if it's anything less than spectacular then I'd say it's better off dead!

TC, TPMS, ABS, Airbags, rearview cameras (2014), it'll have the Viper badge but it won't be a Viper. Our government doesn't let the people choose.

i hope the Viper is still around in 50 years as the Gen 40

love the Viper and it would be it so sad if it ended _-_

plus their would be nothing more that would make me mad then to see the Corvette celebrating the end of the Dodge Viper _-_

As of July 1, 2010, when the last Viper rolled off the line, the Viper was dead subject to a last ditch lobbying effort by Ralph, dedicated SRT employees and some dedicated VCA members. Among other things, a video was produced and presented to the decision makers. It was not an easy sell. So those above whose posts implied that there was some kind of conspiracy to mislead Final Edition buyers are misinformed and whether they realize it or not, the posts are an insult to those who worked very hard to bring the Viper back. I am very grateful for the efforts of those who worked to bring the Viper back. The Viper Nation should be proud of them.

Don't care, especially if there are parts upgrades that are compatible with my Gen IV.

No, just as long as at least one of your guys that buys a new one keeps it very nice and sells it to me in 7 years at around 50% of sticker.
