Can you modify a 1994 hardtop to fit a 1992 viper?

I am in need of ANY kind of top for my early 93 (basically 1992) Viper. The tops for the 1992-93 are different then the 1994 and I have been looking for a top for 2 years with no luck.

There is a 1994 hardtop for sale local, is there anything I can do to make it fit my car? I think the latch bolts are longer on the 1994 then the 1992? something like that.

Thanks!

If you find a Gen1 top you like for sale - buy it!!! If the only fitment problem(s) are mounting/latching HW, that can be replaced. So long as the fiberglass fits, the rest can be modified. Find a `94 in your area, meet up and compare cars side/by side.

What kind of top? AutoForm, Lemke, etc?

It is a stock dodge 1994 hard top. I am just not sure if the latches can be changed to be able to fit my year?

No stock hard top for Gen1 - only Gen2. Gen1's are all aftermarket - therefore "modified" to fit the Gen1. PM jtiff - I believe he had an AutoForm on his `93. It is the "bubble/toupe" style that gives you more headroom - something to consider if you are over 5'10".

I had this issue a few years back and purchased the correct size pins. I can't remember now where I got them but do a search on here. Lots of good threads on this. Good luck.

If you'd like to compare cars with a '94...(and maybe try out my mopar hard top), I'm on the other side of DC from you in VA. I could see making a run out to Annapoils over the weekend if the weather is nice...

Cheers

I do have a '92 hard top and windows that I might sell. It is the mopar part available when they launched the first hardtops as options. It needs a little cosmetic touch up to the paint.

Hey jeff thanks for the offer but i know the top wont fit without some sort of modification to the front latch bolts i believe. I belive the bolts are just longer, but not sure if these bolts are able to be changed to different ones.

I cant even find a 1994+ soft top for sale to purchase and try to modify. I use my top maybe once a year only if it rains so i am looking for anything that can save me when that happens. I drive the viper to the beach a lot (3 hour drive) and it would **** to have to drive that whole way with the hardtop on just so ill have it at the beach for the week incase it rains.
