damnit... I honestly was kind of hoping the new viper wouldn't be soo **** so I would be completely satisfied getting an older one... Guess now I have something to look forward to buying in 10ish years.

I had a 2002 GTS FE that I sold after 3 years of ownership. This car has me very interested in getting a new viper. Many have already mentioned the aggressiveness of the GTS-R. I hope to see an ACR version with the GTS-R bodywork added. I hope the SRT team is reading these posts and can make that happen. I would certainly buy one.

So right now we have 175 love-its and 21 hate-its.
How many of the 21 hate-its were there at the reveal and actually "experienced" this car up close and personal?

Not sure. It is definitely a nice car, just not sreaming Viper or having that same effect on me like Gen1 or Gen3 did when they first came out. But I am sure time can change that... I hope.

I definately love it! I think it is a true evolution from the GTS. I respected the performance of the Gen3 and 4, just never cared much for the appearance. This Gen5 definately has me thinking about how to start saving up again to buy another Viper! I thinks its a double edge sword, working on an 'icon'. It's an honor, but you have a lot to live up to in people's minds. Its like artwork, if everybody likes it, you haven't pushed the envelope far enough. So my hats off to Ralph Gilles and his team. As a Viper guy and a Detroiter, I'm proud to see Connor Avenue back!

On a scale of 1-10, ten being best

Exterior Looks: 8.5, very Vipery, but looks less aggressive than the Gen 4 in the pictures
Interior Looks: 10
Power Increase: 5, I would like an explanation for the less than stellar power increase
Weight Reduction: 9, not to bad for a bigass v-10 truck engine sports car under $150k
Price: 3, If it costs $137k for the base model I think SRT has been influenced too heavily by Fiat. I dont know many Viper owners who will pay that price.

Overall: 7.1 out of 10

Keep in mind Im partial to convertibles and would have probably given the convertible a 10 for exterior looks.

Well, I already voted "not sure". Move me to the "love it" category.

I actually need to reserve further judgment until I see the car in person. I remember how much better the Gen 3 looked in person vs the pics, and I expect this car to also look better in person.

Right now, the more I look at it the more it looks too Gen 2ish for me. I can understand moving in a direction to capture more of the Vipers uniqueness from the Gen 1 and 2 era...but this seems kinda drastic in attempting to capture the lore of that era. Did the car lose the stability fins underneath towards the back of the car? Those fins underneath gave the Viper a sinister look...but from the pics I see it seems like are gone and now the bottom now just looks as smooth as a babies bottom....and about as threatening.
