but I LOVE THE NEW CAR!!!!! So, the new car is absolutely fantastic. Pictures don't do her justice. She's ****, curvy, lighter, faster, more advanced, beautiful, and just down right bad asp. I had gotten to see all the press photo's before the reveal party while in NY so I tried to reserve total judgment till later in the evening and I'm glad I did. When I finally had a chance to get up close to the car I could not believe my eyes. The perfect blend of GEN II/ IV body with a FANTASTIC looking interior and more power with less weight. It's doesn't get any better then that.

I was actually quite surprised and disappointed to see SO MANY negative comments about the new car. SRT worked SO ******* this car. I believe they did a fantastic job on it and if it were not for certain people this car would not even be a reality right now. You know someone has worked hard when they drive the car out onto stage and are just so overcome with emotion that they are wiping tears from their eyes. Watch the reveal to the press to see what i'm talking about. Ralph, Sergio, and the entire Viper team worked really hard to make this a reality and i'm glad they did. They kept an icon alive for what feels like (at least to me) us. The Viper nation/VCA. They made sure to make a Viper where there was a base model that didn't have all the bells and whistles on it while also trying to expand the market for the car. I think they did this very well.

I'll end with the same quote Ralph gave to the press as I feel it's such an important quote for the Viper.

"There are times where you are given the opportunity to give life to something so beautiful and unique, so just and equitable, that you pay a lot less attention to the numbers, to the financial reality that surrounds it....and so I leave you with this...." Sergio Marchionne

It's amazing how many more negative comments there are on this board compared to autoblog, jalopnik, or anywhere else. Everyone else is just marveling at the design. Autoblog picked the street car "car of the show" and the GTS-R as runner up by a landslide. It's just silly. This car is amazing. It's the most beautiful viper ever produced and I love my 08 ACR, but it looks like the last model already. I'm very impressed with what SRT did...kudos. I'm very upset I missed the show in NY....

The car is amazing! I talked to my Dad about the car tonight and he is so impressed with this car as well. He told me that Viper owners must be in love with this car and the line to get the car will exceed supply. He was astonished when i told him about the negative feedback on here. He couldn't believe that any Viper owner wouldn't absolutely love this car. But to each their own. I for one will definitely be buying one, most likely not in 2013, but I will be buying one in the next couple of years.

Yes they are colling ducts. The car is very functional in all aspects and brings it into the 21st century. It has gone beyond the raw emotion.

Majority of the negative feedback, that I noticed, is from newly joined enthusiasts. I don't care what they have to say.

I love the new car.

Fully agree and thank you for posting. I haven't even seen it yet and feel exactly the same way. I will put my money where my mouth is - Bill, expect a call as will be ordering my 3rd Viper.

+100%, 01sapphirebob! It's just the world we live in - always a naysayer and that's really OK. All that matters is that enough buyers step up to the desk with their wallets.

I agree the new design is fantastic. SO happy the Viper survived and is actually thriving with this new design. This is a home run in every way.

I was lukewarm at first but I'm totally crazy for the Gen V now. Just wish I was in the position to grab one. Assuming they make a B/W version in the coming years... I will absolutely have to have one. Thanks to Sergio, Ralph, and the SRT team!!!

Yeah, I completely agree. I've gone from lukewarm to hot in just a few days. My only wish is that SRT open the door to power mods as Ralph hinted at. I can't think of a thing I'd change. l love that the gen 4 looking hood is an option.

That's exactly what I was thinking, I'm like who are all these people chiming in all of a sudden like they have been on the boards for years.........

I was able to make it out to NY for the VCA unveil. I, like many others, chose to look at the pictures before the reveal. In the pics it looked great. I did pick out things I didn't care for, but figured I'd wait to hold my final judgement for when I saw it in person. When the cover was finally pulled away, I was impressed, but I feel the car needs some changes. The curves and body lines are wonderful, and the rear is awesome, but in person the front looks a tad wonky.

Things I don't care for:

1. The vents in the hood are not deep enough and look wimpy.
2. The side markers that are integrated into the front/rear fenders look like those on a BMW.
3. The reverse lights are integrated into the lower rear diffuser, which reminds me of the C6 Corvette design.
4. The headlights. Simply put, they don't look as aggressive as the SRT GEN III/IV cars.
5. The side mirrors are a tad too tall.
6. No fog lights. If the fog lights/front fascia from the race car were on the street version, it'd look so much better.
7. The controls on the steering wheel. They make it look VERY cluttered and like something you'd see in a minivan.
8. Color; straight up, they should have shown the car in a different color.

With all of that said, the car has major potential to look very aggressive. And as we've seen through Photoshops thus far, different colors can dramatically change the look of this car.

BTW, NY was a blast and I had a great time meeting some of you.

Very well said Bob. Remember my text to you while I was at the press reveal in the morning....

"Bob, you better get out your f****** checkbook."

And your response was....

"I am so screwed. Know anyone that wants a SSG '08 vert?" :rolaugh:

I totally agree, the GEN V is Awesome!

Haven't stopped thinking about it since I watched the reveal while in my office Wednesday a.m.

Went to an a.m. Cars and Coffee type event this morning. Muscle car guys, import car guys, Mustang/Chevy/Mopar car guys were all coming up to me saying how much they liked what they saw in the last few days on the new Viper. Many were in total awe of it.

Home run SRT.
