I'm a bit flummoxed over the buzz surrounding the April reveal...or even the HotWheels toy.

Did not the big "reveal" already take place in Salt Lake City last year with many VCA members present?
...also previously in the year in Florida for the dealer network?:dunno:

I would not call what happened in SLC a reveal bu more of SRT testing the waters on the design and getting constructive critisim on it. As fa as Florida goes...they had seen far less of the car. We got to be up close and personal with it. For the dealers it was on a stage surrounded by smoke.

Thanks for posting - I for one am glad there are only 24 hours in a day...imagine how bad it would be if there were 33!

Because the reveal will have a production ready model than can be sat in and felt, hood popped, etc. At least that's what I thought. If it's only a concept and not completed design I would be pissed!

The NY reveal will be the production ready Gen. 5 Viper. Previous were concepts and preliminary designs.

We should know about engine/transmission/interiors/suspension radio, lighting rims, tires and all the stuff that was not included in the styling bucks.

The crowd will go absolutely bonkers if we can hear the car start up, and rev a bit : >)

A concept was shown in SLC. Feedback was obtained.

SRT went to work on the GenV.

The real deal will be unveiled in NYC.

SRT is hosting a private unveiling, for VCA members.

300+ have registered for the unveiling so far. This is becoming a mini-VOI, all around the unveiling of something very special.

It's a milestone.

It's an opportunity to have a toast and salute not only the new GenV but do it with the folks at SRT that made this happen.

Most car clubs, or brands for that matter, would love to have "Fuss" like this. :2tu:

So... some are indicating that the reveal at SLC was only a 'concept' and not likely at all close to the finished product?

....that a blurry photo of a Dinky toy and a picture of a rough mold of the front end are closer than what Ralph Gilles and Sergio Marchionne were making such a proud fuss over 6 mo. ago?

....that the final production went from ZERO to DONE in six months...and those that got a sneak look at the Gen V at SLC were just having fun and kicking around ideas?

...that it is not true that what was shown at SLC was very close to the final version and SRT was interested in obtaining input from the wise and dedicated enthusiats at the VCA for treatment of important details such as interior design and seat design and and perhaps some minor but important exterior details such as headlight design and ??

....that some wise and dedicated VCA enthusiasts are kind enough to take time to respond to my lame question ...which was not out of line..but just a dumb and ignorant inquiry?

Well, I would like to offer my thanks, because it seems my question has been answered ....I truly and honestly thought that the 'concept' revealed at SLC was very close to final version ( just as the first Viper show car was in 1989...but changes were made for the interior and exterior for production ease)

I wasn't at SLC so I didn't know what Mr. Marchionne had to say about the display....I assumed (?) that no photos were allowed because....THIS IS IT>>>KEEP IT UNDER YOUR HAT

No offense taken..prob wont be the last lame ques I will ask ( altho I've never been called out on my lame ques before)

...and I am also making a fuss about the April show...can't wait so see it also:2tu:

BTW it would be kinda cool if they put the SLC concept on display next to the final Gen V ...and then indicate how the input from dealers and VCA members helped determine some of the final changes.. no???
...I'm just saying..........

I hear you.
However, I think your 1989 anallogy would be better compared to the upcoming new york auto show in april, than the salt lake city event.

Well, by all accounts, I was right ( AGAIN) ....the final production version is VERY close to what was revealed at Salt Lake VOI.

Man...I hate being right all the time:D:D

Well, considering only a few hundred people saw that clay mock-up, and the ENTIRE REST OF THE PLANET had not seen anything at all...maybe you should have rephrased your question to something along the lines of "Hey, I'm a badasss, and I saw the Viper at VOI with my own two eyes and I'm already over it...but why is there such a fuss over the car for all you people who didn't see it?"

Man...I hate making perfect sense all the time
