Pro's and Con's of billet under drive pulleys for Gen 2?

I'm thinking about buying some billet under drive pulleys for my Gen 2. Does anyone have them installed, and is there any major difference or downside to having them installed?

I'm basically doing them just for appearance reasons since I will be painting the intake and valve covers later on. Thanks!

I have a set of March, but I don't know if they have any under drive characteristics to them.

They just may be billet replacements?

I have one on my Gen.1 and picked up 10 RWHP. I have been running it for a month or so and I haven't had any issues with it. I got it from PartsRack.

Really only useful for race engines that run at extreme high RPM's for long periods of time.

As GTS Bruce mentioned, for street driven Vipers it is a terrible idea.

When your Viper is loafing along the freeway, turning 1200 rpm the system is loafing as it is.

Would a cooler thrmostat counteract the negative effects of underdrive pulleys?

Ive not noticed any diffrence in engine temp, Ive driven at charity track days and also street driving. I liked the look of shiny pulleys so stuck em on

I now also have the Billet aluminum Alternator pulley and belt tension-er pulley and Power steering pump one to complete the job. I dont think there is any weight saving, if anything when you add up the weight of all the aluminum pulleys its probably heavier! the other thing is if i'm really honest, once the aluminum engine cross member is fitted back in position and if you are using the OEM air box you can hardly see them all.
My car also has AC, you will need a different belt length too

All my pulleys came from Ipsco.

Zackly. Underdrive is for high RPM applications. Billet is nice for aesthetics.

Thanks for all the replies! I think I'm going to pass since it is only street driven, although I do like how FatBoy 18 engine looks, I bet it looks even better with all of them installed.

Anyone else have pictures of them installed? Thanks for the info guys!

No. Thermostats only determine the lowest temperature of a warm engine but do nothing to effect the high point.

You can get some stuff called WaterWetter, it brakes down the surface tension of the water and reduces water temp
