Who has added a ported intake to their Gen 4? What other mods do you have? And mostly, what gains did youn get? Also any negatives? Thinking of doing this. I have Belanger headers, hiflow cats, Smooth tubes and hiflow filter and Mopar computer. Would love to hear your feedback on your experience.:2tu:

My car gained 24hp on the top end with Belangers, Corsa, PCM puting it at 718 total. No brainer mod IMO bang for the buck when you are adding to an already high number.

I had DC Performance port my intake on my Gen 4 last November. I have Belanger headers/hi flow cats with stock exhaust, PCM, K&N CAI that was installed about 2 yrs ago. Dyno done at DC showed 553 RWHP/531 RWTQ before the porting and 591 RWHP/554 RWTQ after porting. I noticed a much stronger pull especially at low RPM. There are no negative that I can tell. This was the best mod for the price and I recommend it.

I have no dyno numbers, but Mark's manifold eventually found its way onto my engine. Also have ROE H/F cats/Corsa, Mopar PCM, and filter.

I have the ported Arrow Intake Manifold on my '08. Car seems to pull harder and no negatives noted.

Ported intake is good for about 20 hp / 20 tq on average.

Call Todd at Arrow for this service as they do a very nice job for a very reasonable price.

HEY SR. Are you saying you gained 38hp with the ported intake but only about 15hp with headers/hiflow,k&Ns?
Why were your numbers low before? I have the same mods with out the ported inntake and I dynoed 591RWHP. A stock gen 4 dynoed 540hp.

Will I gain 20hp with my mods? Where can I get a Ported intake before i pull mine? Looking for minimal downtime? Anyone have one For Sale?

From everything I've read the GEN IV's have responded very well to the ported intake. More so then headers and exhaust.

Installed DC Performance's ported intake and ported heads on my 09 ACR. Don't have before and after numbers because Tomball did the install when the car was new. No negatives that I can tell. Seems to run better than my 08 without the mods. I don't have the Mopar PCM or headers and have had no CELs.

My question also...my 09 did 553 rwhp stock. A friends 09 ACR did 556 rwhp stock. 553 w/headers, hi-flow cats and a pcm seems pretty low.

I had the BBG intake installed on my car 6 months ago. Before that the car had Belanger headers, corsa.. This things pulls harder especially up in the higher RPMs now ! Defiantly worth it, call toddy at BBG, great guy to deal with :headbang:

SNKBYT,

My stock dyno on my '08 was 532 HP/491 TQ. I added the belangers/PCM/hi flow cats with stock exhaust and dyno showed 553 HP/ 532 TQ. After adding ported intake, I jumped to 591HP/ 554 TQ. All work and dyno was done at DC Performance and from what I read on this site, they have a conservative dyno. I hope this helps.

Some dynos read higher than others...that and you're from Texas. From what I hear, the air down there is about 10-15% nitrous.

Exactly right. Dynos vary, dyno operators vary, correction factors and computer programs vary, weather varies, etc.

The ported intake makes power BUT having been to numerous dyno days with many Gen IV cars at different dynos, the biggest gains have consistently come from installing headers.

I've got DC's intake, added about 20 rwhp. Arrow was the first and Dan and Lyle told me that they improved on Arrow's design. At around $1200 good value. Either one will work great and expect 16-24 rwhp since you already have headers (Don't get hung up on the dyno comparisions here, too many variables). Never heard anyone having an issue with a ported intake. I've also got ported heads, gave me about 22 rwhp, not a great cost/value compared to the intake or headers. If your looking for max hp at the track, run 95 octane with the mopar ecu and consider a catch can. You'll be surprised when you pull the intake, lot's of oil is in there. Good luck, Mike

IMHO not all race ported intakes are created equal. I've followed BBG's ported intake evolution since 2009' when I seen his first G4 manifolds mounted to a Viper cylinder head on a flow bench. BBG doesn't mess around when it comes to getting it right. I believe that there are more BBG ported intakes on the road including Europe and the Middle East than any other brands. Most of these guys keep low profile with their builds (Sleepers). Anyways here's a few photos of what $1,500 installed got me..

Cheers,
George

Can't help noticing all of the oil in your OE manifold. Mine looked like that too. Hope you've added a "catch can" George.

FYI, Arrow Racing developed their ported Gen IV intake on an engine dyno and it's CNC machined, so they're good people to work with too.

Hi Dan,

Regarding the oil in the manifold BBG's new catch can system is going on next, thanks for your concern. Most high end engine builders would agree that cylinder head & intake manifold developement starts on the flow bench to measure before and after air flow numbers and air quality before hitting the dyno, right? As far as dyno numbers go, BBG is consistantly making some of the highest HP & TRQ numbers on their intake and header packages. Their good and should be highly considered when making a decision. As far as CNC goes I don't know what Arrow does but this I do know, hand finish work is always required on intakes and cylinder heads because of the radius's and blend process. Toddy's pretty good on that subject since he spent 14 years as a factory cnc rep and I'm sure he would be better qualified to explain the process than me. BBG makes the power, their work sure looks good and the SRT Viper Cup even runs their products, safe choice IMHO.

Dan, can you post a few photos of your catch can handy work to show us how it's supposed to be done and a picture of your ported intake to show us all the quality.

Cheers,
George

Porting the lower a great idea considering the flow of the GenIV heads. I have one under here...

We will see how the setup does with a decent size CAM on a Gen III platform...

Perfect example for the guys that are looking to upgrade to a Race Ported Intake.. Now if Dan E. (Viper-X) would be kind enough to post a picture of his and Nader can you give us a peak of what's under your "beast" it would be some good examples of why we're all making the upgrade.

(Looking good Nader!, can you also post a picture of your lower intake..)

(Dan Viper-X...:eater:, Just bustin your balls Dan, you know I have much respect for you! You know how these builds go, Big Boy Bucks $$. BBG did a high quality build for me, so I'm just having some fun with my new toy.)

Cheers,
George

Definately a good mod,

We at Vipair have done a few 08-10 manifold port jobs and it is a relatively straight forward job, we do ours to the same spec as the Arrow manifolds.

Arrow did it first and I think that is what Mark Jorgenson had on his car.

A pretty port job is not always the best so pics of a port job don't always tell the whole story.

Dear George (TrackAire),

Please keep us posted about that event you had planned on attending, I believe that will be a huge indicator of the power upgrades you received!

Regards,
Aaron
