I wonder how long it will take for one of us GTS owners to be asked" Hey....Is that one of the new Vipers?.:omg:....It will beat the heck out of someone asking "Is that a corvette" Sorry Gen 3 owners. lol :rolaugh:

You're mean. I had to paint my Viper a rediculous color so people would quit asking if it was a Corvette. :rolaugh: True story, day I brought my Viper home my neighbor was outside and he waved..next day my wife was outside he came over and said "When did Craig get the Corvette?".

Just off the top of my head, my car has been called:

Corvette
Mustang
Ferrari
Lamborghini
A "POS Import" (my personal favorite)

As long as noone calls it a Neon or a Aztek, I can laugh it off :D

I was asked if my 98 GTS was one of the new vipers with a turbo charged V12.......my answer, yep, it's a one off prototype, too fast for the general public.

Had not thought about that. But that would be OK. I'm back in the Gen II fold and while the Gen IV is awesome, it's not a Gen II. Sorry ... but Gen IIs are sex on wheels!!

I've already been asked that. At my last open lapping day, last saturday, the food/concessions guy walked around my car looking it over, came up to me and said "is that one of the new Vipers?" -refering to the 2013 model. I couldn't believe he thought that, I mean I keep my car pretty clean, but you can tell it's not new, and it's no garage queen. -not everybody is a full blast car guy, so the recent media attention must mean, if you see a Viper, it must be the new one.

Because Vipers are so rare and most people never see them that when they do the only :usa:"exotic supercar":usa: they know of is corvette:confused:(i know vette is not a supercar) so that is their assumption.:dunno::2tu:

I've been asked---Is that your vette?--- more than once. Bugs me cause one guy that asked has seen my 77 Vette and the '02 Vette that I traded for my GTS before!!!!!!

People are always shocked when I tell them my GTS is a 98' and doesn't have ABS. It's not as easy to drive on the limit as the newer computerized vehicles, but it sure as hell is a lot of fun to drive. I really hope the "new" GTS allows the owner to completely disable all computer control. A lot of modern cars have no true "off" setting which really takes away from the rush of piloting a true animal.

I agree!! the Gen V is a cool looking Copy of the Gen 2 but not as **** as the Gen 2.

I'm surprised anyone would ever ask if your Viper was a Mustang.. There are so many Mustangs out there and they have been around forever... You think people would know better by now. ;)

However, I underlined two from your list that mine has been referred to as before. Some people ask if my Viper is brand new, and others as you all may know, don't even know what kind of car it is- even though it says "DODGE" and "VIPER GTS" on the back bumper, and "VIPER GTS" on each side of the car by the fender.. :smirk:

People who don't know can be led into believing most anything. A buddy was doing some driveability tuning on my AEM in his driveway....the car was running (no cats, big cam, no mufflers) and these young guys in a pickup slowed, listened and then asked "what is that?". Without any hesitation my buddy said "Honda". The two in the truck said, wow, that's a badass Honda....and truly believed it.

Strange that if someone knew there was a new generation Viper out there that they'd mistake a Gen 2 for it......

My car IS getting that new car makeover; full repaint with stripes, new headlights and fascia, new windshield. It WILL look like a brand new car. So, when they are done in a few more weeks, living here in redneck central, I'm trying to decide if during my first drive it will take a few hours, or maybe just a few minutes for someone to pop the question. Now it's just a matter of what sex the asker is versus how friendly my answer is. I hate dumb car questions from dudes or ugly chicks, but a hot one asking an incredibly stupid question will get her put in the front seat right fast.

No, it is definitely not a Gen 2.
It really ***** to have to tell people they are looking at the fastest production car in the world.
Oh the shame....

I remember one time, when I was filling up my Isetta at a gas station, a customer asked me if it was an electric car. Mind you, this is when I was standing there with the fuel pump in my hand, and filling the bubble car with gas. I simply said, yes, it's and electric car, and they went merrily on their way.

Two friends of mine were convinced I just bought the new GTS. When I told them it was a 98' they didn't believe me. They look so similar and the GEN2 is timeless anyways.

I do think the GEN2 GTS is the best looking Viper ever made and will remain that way.

THats awesome :lmao:

My favorite was when one guy asked me what my Viper GTS gas mileage was like. I told him it was a hybrid/flex fuel car and used pump gas as well as high octane fuel. He was like "oh ok. That's cool.. " thumbs up and off he went.

Most everybody thinks that their personal viper is the best looking (and the best color). They also think their kids are all the best looking, but other kids are funny looking' : >)

Gen V certainly carries on the Viper DNA.

I used to tell people my 1986 Black Conquest Tsi was a Ferrrari and most believed me because I took the Dodge emblem off and it was pretty rare and exoctic for its time at least where I live.
