To drive, or not to drive? That is the question. I love to drive my viper...heck we all do. That's why we bought them! But so many people have such low miles I can't help but wonder if they are trying to "preserve" the car? If so, for who? The next guy? You only live once...I say DRIVE! Nothing wrong with keeping miles down, but I hear about 08' cars with 1000 miles! Come on! What's your stand? Drive? Or wipe with a diaper?

The guy that I bought my Viper from said he wish he'd driven it more. He put on 9,000 miles in 10 years.

I believe that they are to be driven two be enjoyed, if not well that's great for the next guy, because its only worth what its worth when you move on. That said if you keep it forever and never actually enjoy driving it that's a shame.

I drive mine daily rain or shine! Got it with 14k miles 2 years ago and now she has 32k miles! Enjoy it while you can who knows when you'll die?! Also recently added a FM modulator (not a transmitter) finally for my iPhone and it sounds super clean with the stock head unit, and yes its hard-wired! Best part it was only $20! Will post a thread on it as soon as I get my pics loaded up!

Life is too short to have a car like the Viper and not enjoy it. Why have a Garage Queen? If you bought it just to look at it, pull the drive train and sell it! If you bought it as an investment, sell it and buy diamonds. If you bought it because it gave you goose bumps when you first saw it, take it to the track, learn how to handle it and enjoy the beast every chance you get!

46,700 miles. I'm not collecting this car, I'm enjoying it as much as possible. -my car's fuel economy is rated in 'smiles per gallon' :drive:

I have an 08 with 1000 miles on it. It's not that I don't want to drive it , just can't seem to find the time.

When I bought my 99 RT-10 it had 58,000 miles on it and now I have 85,000. It is a daily driver unless it is raining, which it does a lot in Washington State. I am still planning to drive it to VOI 12 which is 3,000 miles one way. It is a solid car and I bought it to drive.

Interesting enough, I ran into a Viper owner last Saturday who has 235,000 miles on his 1994 RT-10. He said he finally changed out to a Gen II engine rather than rebuilding his original one. I saw the car a couple of years ago and it read 223,000.

My personal opinion is to go for it you may not be able to drive someday and think of what you may miss.

I dont drive mine much but I enjoy being around this beautiful machine period. Summer is short here and to many toys means I have to spread it around a bit.

I am also glad that many dont drive the **** out of them as it allows you to find nice, low mileage, used ones.

Bought mine 3 years ago with 6k on it and it now has 26k on the clock. Love driving the car, the only thing that keeps me from driving it is poor weather.

Take a wrong turn somewhere on the way home, extend the trip a little, I used to do that alot............'til the cops started getting burned out on me.....now I have a Corvette for a daily driver.........the cops don't seem to mind it at all. :dunno:

In the immortal words of the Grailkeeper, "Drive it like you stole it."

I totally do not get the guys that do nothing more than sit around and polish the car. I put over 5K miles on mine since October. :drive:

If I could, I'd drive my car far more than I currently do. It is not my driving habits or time that holds me back. It is my insurance company. I'm limited to no more than 5,000 miles a year. It is an "Agreed to value" policy, for which I pay $725 yearly. The agreed to amount for the value of the car increases with each renewal. So there is a trade-off.

I don't drive mine as much as I probably should. But I did drive it to work today. 9100 smiles on my '08.

Took it into to a parts store earlier this year when I was working on my truck brakes. The kid that helped me couldn't believe I was dropping off my truck brake rotors in a Viper...The guy at the parts counter commented that he wished he had a delivery car that looked that good.

Nothing like going to the local pizza shop to pick up a pizza for delivery. Guess I like to take it when every I can.

I will be up at Woodhouse tomorrow to have the annual oil change.

I pay $1080 a year for my huge coverage from Geico and I don't have to worry about the insurance company telling me when and how far to drive my car.

Did you buy it to be a garage queen or did you buy it to drive it?

I bought mine to drive it. It's a 2008 that only had 9400 miles on it when I got it 5 weeks ago but that hasn't stopped me from putting another 1000 miles on it from driving it around town (no road trips yet). Just enjoy the car. :)

Further evidence of this is super early RT/10's that have limited mileage on them. They were bought as investments but are selling for only marginally more than normal mileage ones. The only way a low mileage Viper is going to be a true investment is if you hang onto it for 50 years without driving it. Screw that. :)

The GEN1's have so few miles because you can't go very far without windows! That's what held me back from being able to put more than 3k miles a year on my 94'. I could never fit the curtains in the trunk because that's where my NOS bottle is. I guess if you always kept the curtains on then you could take it out more often, but still, they leak.

Similar here, but I have to keep her under 5000 miles per year to stay emissions exempt here in PA. I put about 3000 on her last year.

Drive it when and where you want and enjoy it cause life is short and your number can be right around the corner.
However, respect it at all times cause it will bite when you least expect it.

Bought my 06 roadster one year ago with 5700 original miles..... drive it EVERY day...rain or shine...... it's my commuter car....I now have 18,500 miles. Drove my Gen 1 every day for a couple of years (before I got a company car)...bought it with 15,000 miles.....it was a great daily at the time, but I got old.......
