I have a older Billy Boat 3" exhaust system on my Gen 2. Had an exhaust fire that burned up the BB cat. (BB takes a stock cat, cuts it in half and puts a 3" opening on each end and welds it to muffler). I have a spare stock exhaust that I planned to use to recreate the BB style cat. Gave the spare stock head pipe with stock cat to a machine shop to cut and reweld the 3" ends. They call me today and say their band saw can't cut the material inside the outer metal?!. What's in there? Anyone cut one of these in half? I'm thinking they are using the wrong blade.

They must be having a hard time cutting through the ceramic core. Why wouldn't you just use a ROE High-flow converter? They are already about half the size.....

The stock converter is actually a really high quality unit. Even though the cell size is smaller than the aftermarket cats, the overall area is much larger than a Roe or any other aftermarket cat. The O. D. of the stock cat is much larger. If I'm not mistaken I remember Dan Craigin mentioning something about the front half of the CAT having a different composition than the back half. Another words different gases are targeted by each section of the CAT. Maybe Dan will chime in and clarify.
