I know there's already a thread on this but that one seems to be more about Indy500.

It's $80 to register. you can do 1 day or all 8 the price is the same. If you want Long Hauler status (start to finish) you need to check-in at Detroit before the counter closes on June 2, make all the daily check-ins and be present on June 9. I know some of you have done it in the past. I went 4 days back in 2007 and had a blast. If anyone was planning on participating I was hoping to get a caravan together.

Here's the schedule.
June 2 - GM Proving Grounds 3300 General Motors Rd. Milford, Michigan 48380
June 3 - 'downtown' Shoreline Drive at 4th Street Muskegon, MI (163 mi) 49441
June 4 - U of IL Assembly Hall 1800 South 1st Street Champaign, IL (287 mi) 61820
June 5 - Gateway Motorsports Park 700 Raceway Blvd Madison, IL (178 mi) 62060
June 6 - Buffalo Run Casino 1000 Buffalo Run Blvd Miami, OK (315 mi) 74354
June 7 - Kicker Audio Headquarters 3100 N. Husband Stillwater, OK (160 mi) 74075
June 8 - QuickTrip BallPark 1600 Lone Star Parkway Grand Prairie, TX (272 mi) 75050
Saturday June 9, 2012 - (baseball park) Long Haul Photo and awards (1375 miles)

Day 1, got to drive on the GM Proving Grounds. Four Vipers showed up. I'm pretty sure I'll have the only gen 3 long hauling.

I saw a black GTS but it left before I got around to taking a photo.

Don't even let it get to you, enjoy what you can, it's a blast no matter how many days you participate. I intended to Long Haul back in 07 before deploying to Iraq. I took my 66 Mustang and dropped a valve on day 4. Every year since I've planned to participate but work has always gotten in the way. I've always been overseas. Plan to Long Haul next year. I think it's always the first week in June. It typically starts the first Saturday of the month. I'll post my photos on my page and see you in Miami. Call me when you get in and we'll get our Vipers parked together. 808-371-8524

Latamud, I stoped into the Power Cruise yesterday and walked around for about an hour, I looked over your car and the black RT10, both nice rides, I didn't see the others. Looks like you guys are going to have a great time. I wish I would have met you for a few, thanks for your service.

Sorry I missed you. I arrived pretty late as it was. I got about 2 hours of walking around and everyone started leaving.

Which hotel are you staying at in Miami

Originally I was going to sleep in the car or camp out. I brought a tent. I didn't make any reservations. Friday night I crashed with another power tourer in Detroit. Saturday i checked into a holiday inn express that was along the route for the next day. Last night I used couchsurfing.com and stayed with a cool couple that had a spare room in their house. Tonight I just checked in to the comfort suites. Last room available, has a jacuzzi in the room so I'm taking advantage of that. I play it by ear.

Mandus Ssssss and I met in stillwater. He caught me on the Dyno. 615 was low for my car, I need new spark plugs. I was still good for the highest hp for the day. Not bad for a GM sponsored event.

Awesome latamud, I saw your car in Champaign. I saw the black and the red RT/10s in Milford and I got a pic of that black GTS I'll post later. Other Vipers I saw was a red with white stripes RT/10 at the Lingenfelter open house and first couple days of the tour. That black Gen3 with the red removable hardtop... saw them put the top on it across from our Madison Ill hotel. And an orange with black stripes Gen3 coupe on the road a few times too. There was a black/snakeskin green "Reverse SRT10 ACR" parked outside a shop, can't remember exactly where and I should have gone back to get a picture of it.

I've did segments of HRPT's before but this year was my first long haul for me and my girlfriend. You got a couple pics of my yellow Roush/KB SC Mustang convertible, pics #76 & 78 when we were leaving Champaign.

It was so much fun. Made a lot of side trip scenic stops on the tour and on the way home. I don't know if we could do a long haul in the Gen2 GTS, we could but it would be tough and my left foot/leg certainly would not be happy with me. The Mustang was packed to the gills with everything from clothes, cooler, food, car cleaning supplies, and camping gear. I doubt even half of it would've fit in the GTS and the stang's trunk is small due of the vert top. Our cooler and folding chairs rode in the back seat. I'll post some pics soon.

Brent, the black with red removable hardtop was me. I bought the top on eBay back in Jan while I was still in Afghanistan. The seller was nice to hold it for me in Chicago until I returned and I picked it up on day 3. So, when you saw me remove it that night I was installing tint because the sun was melting the back of my neck.
The long haul was harsh in the Viper but nicer than my no air conditioning factory heater delete 66 Mustang. I traveled alone, had a folding chair, sleeping bag, 2-person tent, clothes for 7 days, 2 gal of distiller water, car detail kit, helmet, tools, cooler, laptop, iPad, camera and mount. My trunk and passenger seat was full. With all that it would have been a disaster if my wife decided to tag along. I think I had the most fun hanging out with Mandus, VCA Member Sssssss and his buddy Randall. I think we got 4 hours sleep that night. I gotta swing through Arkansas someday now.
Next year it'll be between the Mustang or the Barracuda. We'll start in Dallas next year.

Sorry, 3 weeks later and I still have pictures to go through.

Here's that black GTS we saw in Milford.
