Thanks, Abe. The IMPORTANT thing is that there ARE Vipers out there to suit the the taste and budget of most (new, pre-owned, some with mild repaired damage, some totally re-built)...it's just a matter of finding one that suits the individual buyer...and being sure that one KNOWS the "full story" PRIOR to purchase.

During the dark days, Dodge had a build up of unsold Viper inventory. They offered $10-20K to the dealers to move them. A bunch of lucky Viper buyers got great deals at the time, but once the excess inventory was worked through, the prices went back up.

Dealers are now sitting on short inventories, with most having little selection. If you want a specific color/accessories package, there is little shopping around.

Dealers know they will no be able to restock their inventory for quite a while. Most of the 2013 production will be snapped up by buyers already on their waiting lists.

I have not heard of any dealers gouging due to limited inventory, but they need to make a little profit to stay in business until next year when the Gen V production ramps up.

These, in stock, 08-09-10 Vipers are the highest development of the the Viper production to date. They are fantastic cars, and to me well worth the money asked. I understand everybody wants a better deal than anyone else, but that will not get you on the road.

That is what I am being told as well ViperJon. There are not enough 2010's sitting on lots to warrant incentive's. I found SSG & Toxic Orange verts with stripes exactly what I am looking for. But purchasing for MSRP may force me into divorce. My wife will loose her mind. I have seen it before and it’s not a pretty sight :-0 Its cool, im fine with a used one I will just need to be patient. It will give me time to spackle and paint my garage.

Tomball is getting a nice new vert in http://viperexchange.com/2010-dodge-viper-srt-10-convertible-car-sale-0292.php with a sticker of 97860.
Bernie will work with you make him a serious offer.

Well said, Paul!!

Last time that I checked, the "dealers" mentioned in this thread (with whom I am familiar) were listed as "businesses"... and NOT "501 (c) (3)...charities" !!! :)

I emailed Bernie yesturday. Love the car its pretty sick. To big of a nut for me. I will have to wait till she has about 3000 miles on her, and pick her up slightly used. They had a 08 not long ago in the mid 60's with about 3k miles. I think thats the way im heading. I want to make my gargage look like yours Viperjon :) need a spackle guy before new car comes home. Thanks for the heads up. Sorry for the huge S**T storm I started.

This one just went for $91,500... Well sold IMO but the buyer did OK.
I love this car but I overwhelmingly prefer the Gen V.

FEDBYVORTECH...you started a good thread...and, as some have said...there is a lot of speculation and general BS out there. Hopefully, folks will read this thread carefully as they proceed. Cost vs. value, risk vs. reward...all worth considering BEFORE taking the plunge.

I have a new 08 with very low mileage if interested. No deep discount though. Orange / Black HC

Pay attention to the thread.
Learn something.

Years of buying and selling all sorts of cars has taught me that even everyone's beloved Viper will depreciate (a couple exceptions maybe like the first one made or some similar unusual feature). I had 4 Vipers and they all depreciated. This thread or any other doesn't have to teach me anything about that. Sorry for the bad news... ;)

That's exactly what I paid ($97K). For my 2010 Bright Silver single striped ACR. That was about 7-8 months ago..

Thats about right for leftover stock two years later.
Most dealers would do that now on a '10.

George the Mutt is talking about depreciation on a used car and we are talking about discounts on a new car.
He broke the news that cars depreciate.

Dealer in Newburg NY, 2010 Toxic Orange with Graphite stripes. Looks to be 1 of 1. Asking about 89K. I dont love the graphite stripes. Roanoke just posted 2008 SSG no stripes asking 69,990. I figure at least $3500 to add stripes in NY. Not worth it IMO. 2008 SSG with black stripes on ebay 56K but it is salvage title. Looks pretty.

Not sure if you looked at this one, but theres a nice 2008 SSG convertible that just showed up in the VCA classifieds. I don't know anything about this car, but it looks like a real nice car with some great mods. His comment about Chuck Tator doing the mods and maintenance is a real plus!

What caused the dealer to mark it down? Depreciation! Same thing--new sitting around or used driving around--makes no difference! Why do you have to be some kind smart **** and name caller?

George, there is also something known as "pre-delivery damage" that can markedly affect the pricing on NEW cars. Last time I checked (quite a while ago), state laws differed somewhat concerning value of said damage and the need to report same to a potential buyer...with some states using 7%, others 10% (and many others unknown to me) as the reporting threshhold per their respective state laws. Of course this also assumes that everyone is honest !! :)

Forget it Steve, he just jumped into a thread without a hint as to what was being discussed in terms of Abe's car and others.
Because we don't know anything about depreciation values either, he broke the news that cars can depreciate.
It's called being clueless.

Brian, strange thing that guy is about 50 miles from me. I purchased his original rims and tires not to long ago off of that car. Nice guy. I really want a car with stripes, rather not get into having the car painted. But there is a convenience factor. I could have car in my garage in 2hrs :).

If you bought this Viper, you could just take a road trip to Elkhart Indiana. (a great way to get some seat time in your new snake) Drop the car off to Dean Loucks, the owner of TAOD and he will paint on a set of stripes in the color you want. While your car is being striped, my local Viper brothers and I will show you around town and you could be back home by the end of the weekend with your newly striped snake. If you have some time to spare, and want to see how many ponys your putting down, the dyno shop is only a block away from Deans shop. Consider this an open invitation.
