The very first production Viper will be sold at Barrett Jackson in Orange County. Any guesses on what it will bring.

Typically these auctions for Barrett Jackson have brought between 300-500k depending on the car (first ZR1, first 60th anniversary 427 Corvette Convertible, first GT-500, etc.) so I wouldn't be surprised if it went somewhere in that range. Remember not only is this for the first Viper but it is a charity auction, which normally results in people throwing insane money at it because it is a tax write-off. The only thing holding this auction back is that it is the Orange County auction and not the flagship Scottsdale.

I was going to say 300 but after seeing this http://jalopnik.com/346943/ I change my mind. If someone was willing to pay a million dollars for the first ZR1 off the line there should be someone willing to pay twice that for the first gen5. Enough said.

Based on what some of the boys bid on the prototype hood and the design model, I wouldnt be shocked if it hit $500k. :D

it will get half of what a ford or gm would

Sad, but true. The Viper just doesn't have the following of the others. I'm guessing only around $150K or so:smirk: Just look at what a 98 GTS-R brings - lately they've been want to pull much over $80K. And, don't even bring up the dismal showings for super rare '92's:dunno:

The Hurst/Woodhouse Viper went for $250,000 and I would be surprised if Stryker did not go well beyond that?! I would imagine that record will be broken and the Austin Hatcher Foundation is a very worthy cause, just like the Victory Junction Camp was. There will be some heavy hitters and with Chrysler Corp. on a roll I think the figure to buy the car will surprise quite a few folks, IMHO.

I assume you mean the first 2013 production Viper. If you mean the first Gen V, then I don't see it bringing huge dollars. It will bring more as like said before, its for charity. We will see of course but I'll be shocked if it brings anything over 200k.

SRT should get the same fantastic VCA member/ auctioneer they used at the NYC Gala to auction off the number 1 viper.....

Make it an extra special event.

Well spoken!

As for closing price, question is how drivable is it? If it is a 1:1 scale model it will bring a different price.

If I would have been asked to sell the car my goal was 500,000 but I'm sure Barrett will have their best auctioneer Spanky sell the car and he should hit that with no problem! They should sell it on sat night at 8pm eastern. Thanks for the nice comments on NYC auction!

Looks like $300,00.00 is the magic number. I thought it would have went for more.
