I am amazed how the colors change the presence of the car! Blue with white stripes are definately racing colors as are white with blue stripes. Black is "evil!" Styker red is elegant. The green is in your face. Etc, etc ,etc. I wonder what blue with a Scarab type nose and striping would look like?

The second pic shows how far in the factory wheel offsets are. These Gen 5s will look so much better and wider with a more aggressive offset wheel.

Just noticed that there is a large portion of the front window blacked out in the rear view mirror attachment point. It appears to even block the drivers view. Is this just something on the prototype?

Probably just the angle. It wont block the drivers view when you are in the car. Plus it looks like they shaped the blackout piece on the windshield to compliment the paste on piece on the rear hatch glass..

I forget what the technical term is for the black masking around the non-movable windows, but do you think that huge portion of masking around where the rear-view mirror is mounted to the windshield is the production situation? Looks lik it could hamper sightlines to traffic signals when you are waiting at a red light on the left lane. Maybe other vehicles are like that and I never noticed.

Yea, thinking the same thing, something sure makes the 18s look too small, hmmm. Amazing how lowering it makes such a big difference. It'll be interesting to see one on the road like this with the track pack and light weight wheels, which is my DREAM COME TRUE (do we have a new catch phrase, inside joke now or what, lol). Thnx, SnakeBitten, great job, you're the bestest PSer, haha, unless Austin reads this thread, and then he is ... or whichever may end up doing the next cool PS.

Lowered it and pushed the wheels out to the edge just a tad. Didnt lower it too much, as it would have looked too low and over-the-top. I try to do versions that could actually be real. lol

What a difference!!!! My concern is, how do I know that it can be lowered. I don't want the one on the right, but I gotta have the one on the left, it changes everything!! I have heard and read different things about adjustability, but nothing definite. The last from Ralph was that the track pack had adjustable perches for ride height, which would indicate that there is a difference in chassis between a track pack and a non-track pack???? Track pack in the past meant upgrades in components only.

Wow the rear shot looks sick. It goes from having the road presence of a Camaro SS to the presence of a Ferrari or Lambo. Much better. Still no GTS-R, but much better :D

The thing with pushing the wheels out and lowering it is that you only allow yourself half an inch of suspension travel before you put your tire into a fender. It looks cool but would never work.

That has been my one gripe with the new design. The arc of the front fender is very large accentuating the small opening (in a relative sense) of the wheel and wheel opening. The rather large amount of space between the top of the wheel opening and the top of the fender once again accentuates this. Part of the issue with the fender has to do with the design having a higher cowl than the previous generations. Ralph had mentioned in an interview that the low cowl of the older generations was out in an effort to modernize the design of the car. Another issue with the fender design in the rather steep angle that it takes as it goes from the top of the wheel opening to the peak of the fender. Because of the large arc of the fender and the height difference of the wheel opening to the peak, that space is visually extended from many angles as the wheel height is forshortened as you look down on the car while the sheet metal is extended as the angle of the fender comes closer and closer to being perpendicular to the viewers view.

This is by far my largest gripe about the design of the car. Having not seen it in person, I can't say how much it would bother me, but from many pictures, it keeps popping out as something that would drive me crazy if I had the car.

you can easily push the oem wheels on gen 3&4s out 3/4" front and 7/8" rear without hitting fenders. Thats one thing that makes the 3 piece forged wheels look so much better than oem. They have a more aggressive offset.

While that may be true, on a lowered car, you can't push the wheels to the point that the wheels stick out from under the wheel opening as is the case in the image I mentioned the issue.

There are a few guys here that have it done on their SRT's, so it's possible.
