Just wondering if anyone here does this type of stuff in another state? I have not seen a Viper show up here yet, and Im thinking about it lol. I would need a SCCA legal bar, but I dont see anyone that makes a bolt in for the Viper or I just havent looked hard enough. Here is a link to my local one http://pahillclimb.net/

If that link dont work click it a few times, it will come up. They have been doing it here since the '60's at certain roads. Ive been to them and talked with alot of people about doing it. Looks like a ton of fun. They usually get about 5 -6 runs up the hill a day. And they are 2 day events. I have a close friend and his wife that have been doing it for years. They are trying to talk me into doing it with the Viper. And check out the video of the week on the home page. Thats Weatherly hill climb its a badass course! Tons of youtube videos also, just look up Weatherly hill climb 2012 here ya go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSeKM4rwkwM&feature=youtu.be Lots of Corvettes,4th Gens, alot of different cars that run it.

I tried hill climbing once in the Viper. The ruts, rocks and trees made it too hard with the low ground clearance the Viper has. The H2 does much better. Oh never mind... ;)

I Have been a spectator at Giant's Depair many times, I don't remember any vipers doing the climb. I have driven that road many times but not with my Viper. I will have to give it a shot (Driving it not entering the climb). Not sure if I really want to push it, really easy to lose it.

We have a great road called Knox Mountain Hill in Kelowna BC. Once a year there's a hill climb event there My buddy raced his Ron Fellows Camaro there but I never saw a Viper . Smaller and lighter vehicles do much better given the fact the road is so narrow. Speeds are up to 100mph. Check out this video > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra6BMlPxiFE

watch the road from the cockpit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uf8KZdosZ_c

Volvo crash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PyspXu_h3Y&feature=related

Looks like a lot of fun there also.

Yes, the Viper's are great on the hills with gobs of torque, they just don't notice the elevation! However, they are no light weight to 'fling' around. My partner and I have competed for many years with supercharged GTS, you are the only one on the hill, so if you go off, its down to your error (ie no door to door to take you out) however if you go off, its not very forgiving...walls, banks, trees, cliff edge... in the UK I hold the GT record at my local, the spectators LOVE the Vipers, and some are very surprised the Viper can do so well in the twisties. Many of our UK hill climbs are run on street courses...

And when it all goes a little wrong...

Well, when you do have a little off course moment of damage, its not something you want to let the world know about! But, some 6 + years ago now, I've got over how not to do it!
Here's one you'll like Mark, driving a GTS-R on the Goodwood hill climb, I took that one a little easy as the power steering had failed and it wasn't my car, but we still raced :drive:

Anyway, back to the original post, try it, you will get big respect for hill climbing a Viper and a crowd pleaser just for showing up. Its nice to do well, but above all my main aim is to enjoy the runs and stay safe.

Nasty, that looks like it would be a blast! How long did it take for you to memorize the course (which I would think would be ONE of the main requisites)!

Thanks for the vids Nadine. Gonna take a cruise down to Giants Despair and push it a bit. There is one turn that is scary. I have seen many cars lose it there. The turn when you want to get into it but if you do your probably in the hay and hopfully not the trees. Oops, no hay when it's not the climb.

Awesome Nadine, but you've got to admit you don't have the trees, ditches, etc... like in the other video! I would have to think that WOULD make a lil' bit of difference. Well, ok I just looked at the 2nd video & ok you DO have the trees, etc...Lol! jmo
