I found some new media. Figured I'd share. The hot wheels one cracks me up. BTW, the GTS-R looks amazing with that wider body. I hope the new ACR has that. The wider body not only adds to the dramatic curves of a Viper, but it corrects the odd proportion of the front grille opening. It looks more appropriate on this car because it doesn't appear so massive.

On a side note, the launch edition looks terrible in these videos. The gaps are horrendous, the ride height knocks the vehicle's proportions off, and the lack of carbon all add up to a poor showing. I honestly can't believe they thought this was okay to bring to Pebble Beach. This video also confirms that it wasn't the hatch not being closed like Ralph said. I guess these are part of the quality issues that have delayed the production and delivery of the car. It is no wonder that none of the popular YouTube media outlets have made a video of the car yet.

Nice finds, except for the first one. It's a great looking car but I can't help but be distracted by the trunk lid trenches on the B&W. I can't stop looking at the gaps, they are really worse than the GEN1 and GEN2 because they are so looooong and noticable. It looks like an unrefined kit car from behind. I don't know, maybe if Ralph had not emphasized how much better the fit and finish would be, I might not be focusing on it. I'm really trying to ignore it. But it appears that there is more prototype launch editions out there with these massive gaps.

Maybe if I don't look it will go away...

...no it's still there.


Just scrap the launch editions and sell us the GTS-R for $120k... I promise I won't complain about any imperfections.

Ralph has messaged me twice about the gaps. When he saw the pics of the car from pebble beach he said they were off 5mm from spec. When the car returned they measured, 'the deck lid was completely off spec, series parts will be much better!'

In the 3rd video... SRT Launch Edition at 7-10 seconds of that vid the car looks like the Volado...

Wow. Those gaps can not be explained away SRT. Even 5mm adjustment doesn't seem enough to fix the grand canyon gaps. How could they bring this to Pebble Beach....Scratches head......Its becoming apparent that the fit and finish of the show car we saw at Jacob Javitts will not make it to the production car.

Instead of calling it the Launch Edition they should have called it the Grand Canyon Edition with a nice layout of the GC in one of the cubby holes instead of the track layouts lol. Really hoping the production pieces are better than this Launch Editions.

A few comments about the gaps.

First, I don't know if the car has rabbets at the skin joints and cut lines, but it should. Looking down at a body color gap instead of a black "hole" makes a lot of difference. It "appears" that the car doesn't have rabbets so that means all gaps are black lines.

Second, I'm not familiar with the specific graphite material SRT is using but I am somewhat familiar with a product used on racing cars. With that specific product, you fit up the body, put it in a strong, hot, sun light, the panels "grow", you bring it back in and refit the panels. Maybe the Viper production line needs some heat lamps:rolaugh: to grow the panels for fitting.

Lastly, I find the fit and finish dialog a strong indication of how the market has changed. Better or worse doesn't matter, the market demands a better quality in product appearence than the past Gens!:headbang:

I really don't know that the market has changed. The focus on the fit and finish is because SRT brought it up. Many customers that aren't die hard Viper fans brought it up. Lastly, I, as well as others, will bring it up because they want to charge more. Maybe even a lot more. To that notion; fine, fair enough. However, give me more if you want to charge me more. For me, the unveiling car had wonderful fit and finish. I do like the Gen V, but my quibble comes with showing the world a well crafted vehicle and then mule or not, never do it again - even with the Pebble Beach car. Sorry, but that is disappointing.

Those gaps are for track tools and portable air pump. If your lucky you might stuff a low profile jack in there as well. I like the gen 3-4 cars looks much better. Think i would drop 100k on a 10 ACR first. I dont need to worry, as i dont have the cash for either right now....
