GEN1 Alarm system ???

Is there something wrong with my original alarm system on my Gen1 or is it normal that there is no sound when i disarm the car. When i set the Alarm with the Keyfob there is a very short horn sound, but nothing at disarming ????

I get a very faint blip when arming my GEN1 but nothing when disarming. The GEN2 has a much more noticable arming blip, but still none for disarm.

only thing Gen1 alarm is good for is to malfunction at the worst possible time and place leaving you stranded unless you know the "trick" to save yourself,,, best place for that alarm is out of the car and on the shelf or garbage can... my 2cents

Yeah, I never set it, it scares the crap out of me. Word is, even thieves are afraid of it. At least the GEN2 can be disabled if it malfunctions.

Ditto. Spent 2 hours in the parking lot at Best Buy looking like an idiot trying to disarm mine. After 2 hours, and 2 minutes before AAA hooked it up to put it on the flatbed, my buddy banged on the thing under the dash and it turned off. Never used it since.
