Most maintenance could be done at your house. Oil, spark plugs, radiator flush, breaks, ect... Its an American car made to be worked on by Americans. Just more goes into it. Breaks are generally a bit more expensive, as well as top notch oil and other fluids, but nothing a couple hundred dollars every 6 months to a year shouldn't be able to handle, even if you take it to a shop.
Though the story could change if you race your car, because then it will become a trip for rotors, breaks and anything that breaks. Either way, good luck!

Well, the new door latch (which is STILL not in, by the way, my dealer tells me "maybe today") is 349. However, the Viper (except for tires) has cost me LESS than minor fixes for the Grand Marquis.

As stated, maintenance is DIY if you have a few tools and a couple basic skills. Everything is surprisingly easy to access and work on.

The main issues seem to be the window regulators going bad (plenty of threads on here about that topic), which are expensive to replace and the oil cooler lines have a tendency to leak. There are aftermarket options available to fix the oil cooler line problem, and is an easy DIY job. The window regulator thing appears to be getting the attention of enough people that I'd assume a good, reliable fix will be available soon. Other than that, you don't hear much about them breaking unless you constantly beat the snot out of the car. Even then, they are built well.

That's not to say they don't have their quirks, because they do, but reliability isn't a major concern.

Oh, and every once in a while you'll hear about the side window glass on '08 cars shattering for no reason, which has been traced to a bad batch of glass. Just something to be aware of, but nothing you can really check for ahead of time. If it breaks, it breaks...replace it and move on. The side glass is surprisingly not that expensive.

So CAL
I have a friend that has both Lamborghini and Ferrari I can tell you Dodge Vipers don't have costs anything close to those cars. It's more than say a normal car but not crazy.
