You did a great job, I loved how the Petty guys encouraged you to haul butt when they felt you could do it. I was blown away at how good a job that SRT Jeep did on the Roval. My instructor was happy to let me pass guys up and honestly as I approached the banking I wanted to lift just a tad. I was getting tunnel vision and feeling the G forces pushing me down, awesome jeep. You had some really good times on your autocross. Dan did a great job of insuring the autocross was long and high speed, especially the right side. We had a blast in the rain on Saturday. Thanks for posting as I forgot my GoPro!

Thanks for the ride on the autocross, Dave. You were hauling some serious ass.

I didn't take a Viper, so I drove SRT cars.

Lots of Auto-X runs on Sunday. Best Auto-X time 43.1 in one of the 300s. 45.6 was best Grand Cherokee time. G/C is great fun, but heavy!!!

Best Auto-X time in a Viper 51.0. I drove my friend's '99 GTS in the rain Saturday!

Roval was a blast. I told instructors I had quite a bit of track time (NASA, NARRA, etc), and had instructed at VIR in the past, so they tended to let me pass quite a bit as long as instructor in car ahead did a point-by. Interesting passing multiple Vipers while in a 4 door 300! Wait times tended to be pretty long, and then there was that Mr. Personality guy honcho-ing the car line-up...

It was fun "working" with Lyle at the dragstrip to holeshot the Vipers while driving the SRT cars. Beat more than one Viper thanks to Lyle!

BTW - 108/109 trap speed in heavy 4 door Chargers and 300s...and 13.10/13.20 ETs. I think I heard Herb H. mention those cars could do 12.80s stock.

I was VERY impressed with the entire SRT8 line-up. Fun to drive in every event.

A heartfelt thanks to all of the SRT and Petty folks (and any others I missed) who made the driving events an absolute blast!

(and for often looking the other way when I had their cars in "Sport" mode!)

And to my fellow VCA members and Viper enthusiasts, who made this as good or better than any of the six VOIs I've attended!

I would have been getting pretty impatient a few times in there (espicially around the 9:10 mark), but at least there were alternate routes to get around people if they didn't give you a quick point-by. ;)

Yea, this was much more casual an event than a normal trackday. They put beginner & intermediate out at the same time, which I've not seen before, can be a little dangerous, but you also only got 2 laps and back in the grid, rinse/repeat, vs like 15-20 min sessions, so this was like a modified trackday exp, kinda scaled down. It was very cool though, I haven't been on a bank that large before, and checking Charlotte off on the list of tracks run on, yea, that's cool, and everyone was super nice.

My most fun moment was when 2 track ride-along guys came to get in my car, they both had run with me already and the one guy said hey he's fast, I want to go with him, and the other jumped in front of him and said I know, I got him. I was like, now boys, don't fight over me. Haha. The SRT folks and support people were impressively nice, I literally can't wait for VOI13, & I'm bringing my wife next time if I have to pack her in my luggage. lol

Big question is ... at VOI13 will I be in my Gen4, or a Gunmetal Pearl Gen5 .... hmmmm.

I had the same instructor on my 2nd and 3rd runs. When I lined up for the 3rd, he skipped the car in front of me and came to my door. He said, "hey, the last run was fun and you didn't kill me, so let's go again". He was cool on both runs. I wish I could have stayed Sunday and ran a little more.

Yea, I have to say Sunday was insane. I was going to stay til noon, but stayed until the end, just session after session on autoX and the ROVAL, with the rain on Saturday, it really made the whole event. The drive home on Monday for 9 hrs in the rain & fog was a pain, but well worth it.
