I bought my car from a guy who lives about 5 houses from me. He is a nice guy but he is a physicist and has a bit of mad scientist about him. He builds rail guns. Mach 7 stuff. Impressive. He was a Hennessey guy when JH was the only game in town. He had a monster (for the day) 800hp NA '97 B/W and wrecked it two weeks after he got it. That should have been my first red flag. Then he had my car built and parked in in his garage.

Anyway, he was out front of his house last weekend and saw the car for the fist time since I got the rims and put the blower on. As he was asking about the wheels he notices the boost gauge. That led to discussing the blower which led to a ride. He was so blown away I had to invite him to C&C this morning. We were walking around and he joked about driving it. I thought about it and figured that he drove it for 10 years (albeit only 4200 miles) at 490whp, it couldn't be TOO risky to let him drive it home. My decision is made defensible by the fact that this guy has the cake to buy me a new one should the need arise.

Well, we make it ALMOST a quarter of a mile. Making a left turn with some innocent woman in a Toyota next to us, he keeps it in first until he gets it straight. Then, before I could scream 'STOP' he shifts into second, lets out the clutch and STOMPS it. I vividly remember seeing the yellow shoulder stripe out the windshield. Two corrections and a pair of dirty britches later he was able to reel it in with no harm done. I cannot post my exact words on this forum but it was something along the lines of 'Fudge me, dude..... What the fudge was THAT?'

The worst part of the whole deal was the smiling bastard in the silver Z06 who rolled up next to us at the light and yells over 'Having traction problems?'. C'mon man....

Ive let a couple of people drive my car, I have to say its really unnerving! I'm not a good passenger in my own car. We all have different driving styles ;)

I taught my niece how to drive a manual transmission in mine, and wasn't the least bit worried. There were a few times that she kept her foot on the gas when she pushed in the clutch to shift, but the motor's bullitproof so I didn't care; I figured that's how you learn to drive. When we got back home, my wife jumped in the driver's seat and drove it for the first time since getting it 7 years ago. I find that people that have never driven a Viper before are way less likely to stomp on it with you sitting in the passenger seat.

I let people drive mine all the time. I'm with them and I've never had anyone get loose or drive it to the point that I puckered up.
