Can't tell how much mailbox damage from the pics. Ask him to email closeup pics of the damage.
Looks like a good deal so far... however not sure if the hood is closing properly.

Just curious, seems like a good deal.
Carfax does report an accident. The salesman told me the car hit a mailbox, the driver didn't want to pay out of pocket to fix it and was told the incident wouold not be reported to Carfax.

If you can get it inspected , and no issues found , then I'd say that it is a decent deal. DO NOT believe what the salesman told you. I'd never trust anything that a car salesman says. The car speaks for itself. In this specific case, assuming that you are referring to the carfax report of a 2004 accident, then the salesman can only be telling you truthfully is a story someone you don't know told him.

The damage was fixed, it just showed up on the Carfax.
I have read on this forum that the way you shut the hood makes a differance in that gap at the headlight and bumper. I'm guessing the guys at the that dealership don't know how to correctly.

Yes, thats true, thank you AZ. The salesman called the consignor and that is what he was told. I know that ultimately the best thing would be to get one from a forum member.
This one would be so easy though. With that kind of price, the possibilties are endless!

Here's what I see from the pictures...

wheels have scratches
seats look very grungy
why is the passenger side seatbelt laying in the seat, is there a problem?
cigar lighter is missing
aftermarket stereo head unit
engine compartment is dirty (a lot of viper owners keep the engines pretty clean, not spotless, just clean)
the hood gaps don't look terrible to me, pretty normal for a GEN I
the paint looks good in the pictures, but it's probably new considering the 'mailbox' incident

I would pass. Cough up a few extra grand and get yourself into a GEN II.

Good luck either way.

Noticed that all the badging has been removed and the sidepipes have been painted body color. Could be owner preference or evidence of repaint? Looks like that viper spent a number of years in the Phoenix AZ area. Call Eddie Martin the viper tech at Bill Luke Dodge in PHX. He's one of the country's best tech's and services many vipers. With so few emerald greens he might know it and/or have service info in his computer. Good luck! Mike

If you are truly interested and want someone to check out the hood and general condition let me know, I work about 1/2 mile from that dealer and could look it over for you.

I owned a 95 RT/10 for 9 years before getting a GTS for high speed events. There is also a local Viper tech that could take a look at it but he typically charges a fee.

...Are those wheels stock? They don't look like they have the chrome shine to them...did they paint them? Good call on the seat belt...what's up with that? Stereo is an eye sore IMO. I think it is priced reasonably if you can stand that non-traditional blue color. Ask if the head gaskets were changed because that's about $1k to fix.

This particular Viper does not scream to me so I will pass. It also feels a little "shady."
What's incredible is the help you guys are offering/giving!
I really appreciate it!

Green, that is incredibly nice for you to offer and I appreciate it. Like I just wrote, I am going to pass on the car but it would be cool to get that tech's number. I will be looking to use it at some point!

Those are the stock wheels. Most ditch those for the newer wheels. Funny thing is the stock 17" make a great track rim/tire combo. Cheap and sticky with the right tires.

If that car could be picked up for $22K or less, that would be a great deal.

The hood of my 94 appeared to fit like crap until I replaced all the plastic clips that hold the nose in position. Now gaps are straight and tight. Bet this one could (and I bet many other Gen 1s) use a few new clips.
