So Who Plans on Selling Their GenII GTS to Get a GenV ?

I would love to have a GenV to keep my GTS company but I just can't swing it with 2 houses and 2 kids in college right now. So I am debating if it's worth selling my GTS to get into a GenV and then maybe picking up another GenII GTS a couple years down the road. Just wondering if anybody else is in a similar situation and general thoughts on this ?

I was in the same situation and decided I had to hang onto my GEN II. Mines an RT/10 but same thought process. I just couldn't let go of the GEN II to get the GEN V. Not that the GEN V isn't worth it but my GEN II is just so special to me it would be like losing a member of the family.

The only Car I would consider giving up my Vert for is: A 2005 Commemorative Addiction Coupe { Blue with White Stripes }...Which..by the way is modeled after Bushido's Gen II GTS.....

let say my GTS is worth 40k at best? Couldn't justify the cost difference at 150k+ this and that. That would be four times more! Is the new GTS four times the car? I don't think so! I'll turbo or supercharge mine before shelling out 150 grand.

Hell no. Plus from financial stand point i would rather have money in the bank than i my guarage. 150k is 150k.

They aren't making GenII's anymore and while the new ones are faster the GenII is just more visceral to drive. You guys are reaffirming my inclination to hang on to it and save until used GenV's start showing up on the market. sort of hard to believe that not a single person says they'll sell and not look back :dunno:

If I were in your shoes, I'd probably just wait and see what the reactions to the GenV are - and possibly get behind the wheel of one.

But I still find it amusing that everyone prices the new Viper at "$150,000." So far there has been one person who has admitted to coming close to that figure.

We're comparing Gen II GTS to Gen V GTS . In Canada , you won't find a GTS for less than 150. Prove me wrong.

Ps; I remember when the Gen I came out, someone paid close to 200K in BC to get it!
When the GTS came out in 1996, a B&W GTS was at 99K msrp , compared to around 68K in the US.

I could never sell my GTS for a Gen 5 (not taking away anything from it), but having both would be very cool. I don't think that will ever happen.......

Like my GTS as it is. Don't need ABS, back up camera, Bluetooth, radio, traction control or any other of those features on the Gen V.

I can't get over the euro grill and the ricer lights on the gen V. I like the style except for that and the price. What happens in 4 years when that LED lighting thing is old news. Remember the gold emblems of yesterday and how nasty that looks now.
I drove the car at VOI and from what they let me do with it I could tell the clutch felt better, but I still like the raw edge of the gen II.
Currently got 2 GTS in the garage with an 09 coupe, I feel I got the best of both worlds. Would I let em go? Nope!
Lastly, change the logo again.... remove the dodge brand, that's crap.

Forgot to mention, once my 99 GTS turns 15, in British Columbia, I can get collector status and lower ins to boot! People on the road seeing the collector plate will wonder what a heck,haha.

If I was given a Gen V, I would sell it for another Gen II(+mods and hookers).

It has decent style but it lost to a Corvette first thing.

I would have included all Gen2's in the poll but I figured the RT guys would all chime in about the roof which isn't a factor for me. Beautiful car !

Seems like the consensus is nearly all Gen 2 owners like their cars because of the bang for the buck , the body design, and ease of modifying. I personally like to do mild /simple updates to keep the car fresh and evolving. I get pride of ownership and truly enjoy the car. That being said, I will keep my Gen 2 and the 75k difference .

Don't get me wrong, I think the GenV is a beautiful car (it looks like a GTS no doubt) but I am one of those who thinks that the GenV is now more like any other 2013 fancy/luxury sports cars on the road. Yes, yes..I get it. It’s still a Viper and I agree with that. But, in my opinion, it's lost its edge. Do I hope it does well in sales? Yes. Do I hope kids all over the world put posters of it up in their rooms? Yes. Do I want 8" touchscreens, steering wheel mounted buttons to control my “driver’s display” and launch controls in my Viper? No. I want those items in my daily driver/family car.

I understand what SRT did and WHY they did it (gov't mandates and widen the demographics), and I think they did a VERY good job at it and met their specific goals. If I could have an even-steven trade, I would still keep my GTS. I think I’ve said it before, but 20 years from now when I’m flying around in my luxury hovercraft I will still get a smile on my face thinking of the noisy, smelly and spartan GTS in my garage that has the seatbelts backwards.

Yep.. It's just testament to how classic they are too... You probably won't see many guys selling their mid years C2 corvettes to buy a C7 either.
