Would you like to pay for my time? Or would you like me to do what the rest did and smash 2 or more cars together and call it a day. Or better yet would you like to continue to be a smart ass and put words in my mouth? Did I call them lazy, no. Did I say creativity was lacking, absolutely. I'm also guessing comments on creativity hit a sore spot with you, glad were free to have opinions. Its cool though, since your such an avid led supporter please go throw as many leds in your headlights as possible and call it cool. I do think the letter "Q" has not been done yet, there's your originality. I know your heart is broken that the dolphin design was taken but I'm sure you could talk a painter into putting an elephant or a leopard on your hood. Lol.
It seems like you've got all the time in the world to complain about how you don't like an emerging auto technology, I just thought you might want to put all of that negative energy to a good use and, let's say... design something better, using the same constraints and program goals as those who designed the current gen headlights. And as far as putting words in your mouth, I only paraphrased what I thought were your ideas. You however fabricated an entire LED-obsessed fantasy for me; I never said anything about liking every headlight ever prouduced with LEDs, and I certainly don't think the addition LED lighting itself adds to the styling of a vehicle. Truthfully, I think the headlights could have looked better than they do right now, but I get the look they were going for, it's just the slightest bit off.

An emerging auto technology? This technology "emerged" to production in 2007 and has been around for 15 years, yeah, real emerging.

Well hopefully you are not in a profession that requires you to think too much because you are very far off from what I said. I specifically said creativity was lacking. You can point to a lot of these new cars and single out the car that inspired their headlights! Thats not creativity, thats plagiarism.

I get the look they were going for as well, and I understand why they did it. My opinion is purely personal, non business related. LED headlights are the new rave, everyone has to have them. Kind of like spinners 15 years ago, you would see spinners on wheels everywhere. Vehicles follow trends, I get that, and I get that if another company has made them successful then why not utilize their trial and error and save money. From a business standpoint, good on them. From an asthetic standpoint, its just another replica. We will use LED's as main lighting and complementary lighting in the future, but I don't believe it will be as obnoxious with designs as it is now. It has been played out, lets get original, lets get creative. This is why I love the original Vipers, there was nothing out there that looked like them. Yeah they were rugged, but as far as copying other vehicles they weren't close enough to say those are headlights completely inspired by another car manufacturer, that car looks like another vehicle, they clearly took that idea from another vehicle, it was original. Hopefully your understanding a bit more now, more care should have been put into this and the statement saying they can be turned off, well yes maybe they can however you still HAVE to have running lights when your headlights are on therefore the orange set will have to remain on at a minimum.

I have a question...

If it's not a federal mandated law that new cars HAVE to have them, shouldn't we be able to request not have them on the car? Why isn't there an option? I mean I get it, that's more work but MINI offers Halogen and HID headlights.

I like them, and I'm voting with my wallet. For the record, I don't like wooden wheels or brass radiators, either.

I like them as well.

Good news is that for those that cant handle them.....there are plenty of Old cars available that use something other than LED.

The LED's are here to stay. Don't see as being a fad that will go away.

It's funny how no one is grasping what I am saying. We all realize that LED's are the future, why wouldn't they be. This has NOTHING to do with old cars, this has to do with styling. Use LED's, absolutely, arrange them in annoying fashions inside headlights, FAD. They can still be used in a fashion that doesn't spell the alphabet and be stylish or even in a reflector. The crazy thing is I have led's inside the headlights of my gen 2, guess what letter they show? None.

No I guess I dont grasp what you are saying because just a post above you mention that ' LED's are the new rave and everyone has to have them'. You are comparing them to spinners !!!!!

That to me says you are considering them a fad.

Then a bit further into your argument you seem to agree that LEDS are in fact going to be used in future veichles.....

Doesnt matter. Not to me. I wasnt just responding to your post but there has been plenty of both for and against the current use of LED's both when it comes to the actual design and performance.

I guess we can argue back and forth but it comes down to just another disagreement on the design.

And since we are talking design.........that huge, empty black hole in the front of that Yellow SRT really does need something. Painting the cross hairs will certainly change the look. Again.....just a personal opinion.

Ok so I see the issue now of why the misunderstanding. ELECTRICALLY, leds are a better product and will be around for a long time and will be used to phase out halogen, no arguments, no disputes, no gripes from me there. Why would I care how the light is generated? That makes no sense. I work on electronics for a living by the way, I'm all about new technology and advancement.

What bothers me is car companies don't just throw leds in headlights, they have to install them in a way that is faddish by outlining the lens, the shape of "O"s, and other shapes inside the headlight, faddish. If they were using halogen bulbs and arranging them like the way the leds are being arranged the issue to me would be the same, its too over the top and a rip off of Audis style. If the leds are used as replacement for halogens, IE the halogen blinkers/running lights in the gen 4 were replaced with leds, no issue. Its the fact that they are not used that way, they are stuff in headlights in faddish fashions because Audis were successful doing it.

Summary, its not the use of the technology I dislike, its the abuse. Useful technology, horrible implementation.

I've wondered if Audi had any idea their LED designs were going to spread like wildfire throughout the automotive industry. I don't think there's a single manufacturer who isn't putting some sort of LED signature design on their cars now. IMO Audi is still the best at implementing them into the headlights with style. Some other manufacturer's make it seem like an afterthought. Look at the GTR's LEDs, not sure why Nissan even bothered with those cheap looking LED strips. I don't think the LEDs are a big deal while used as DRLs because I can just turn them off. However, they're always on when the headlights are on. Not sure if the "fad" will ever stop, but I've read Audi and BMW are developing laser headlights. Should be interesting.

This is what I am referrring to. Believe it or not Audi was not the first to offer an OEM vehicle with the led's in this fashion, Lexus was. Audi revolutionized it, made it new and fresh. Now every other company is trying to follow suit YEARS later instead of creating their own thing. No big deal as DRL's, the annoying part is the styling the car companies attempt to do with it, they try to hard and it looks gaudy instead of refreshing and new.
Audi's lights aren't over the top yet but getting close.

I'm surprises no one has complained about push to start yet

I would complain about push to start if there 30 push to start buttons all around the steering wheel, because it would be sooooooo cool!! (I hope you understand now)
