ACR-X Brake and Aero Upgrade

First a BIG THANKS to STEVE at VIPAIR for all the Carbon!!!!! Next another big THANKS to F8L SNK for the informative and time saving tips!! AWESOME Products and great Help!! Thanks so much GUys!!!

So I thought I would share the Install and photo's of my front end conversion I did. The install is very labor intensive and yes you have to cut your viper up a bit. However, I think the added results will justify my time at least on the track. With the brake duct install you have to install new steering stops so that you don't crush the new fancy carbon schrouds and hose. I have been using the ACR-X wing and an Autoform front splitter with good results but I sprung on the ACR-X Splitter and ducting to run this upcoming season.

Changes that get made.
Cutting of the Facia so the duct recieves air
Cutting of the inner wheel well so the 4" hose can pass
Hardware for schrouds gets mounted to wheel hub
Comp Coupe Brake Lines (for vertical application so the duct fits)
Steering Stops (so you don't crush your handy work)
Oh and for those that have an ACR or the X the front splitter makes a great beer coaster also :lmao:

You may want to put a constant torque clamp on that brake duct...

Looks great . Not to hijack the thread but I have a set of the Carbon Schrouds if someone wants them.( they are a work of art) I was going to install them on my car but decided to leave mine stock. I will make a great deal to a fellow VCA brother.

GREAT JOB and great write up Shandon. You'll be happy you added them, especially in the summer months.

I would suggest a rubber isolator between the stainless brake line and the upper control arm however. Don't be surprised when the tie rod end cuts a hole in the brake flex hose either

Yea good idea on the rubber isolator, ill do that. The ACRX handbook calls the hose a "Wear" item

so i got an extra hose from Jegs to replace when worn. Thanks again for all the help

I used a Dremel and Blue Painter Tape with a very very steady hand

I too would suggest a piece of 1/4 to 3/8 " rubber hose between the control arm and the brake line secured with a looped zip tie.

On the brake hose that runs under the tie rods, you will need to re-shape them into an oval so that the tie rods don't rub a hole in them. Those silicone hoses are pretty spendy. After I reshaped mine, I added some "Gorilla tape" to protect them a bit more from the tie rod end.

Will be fun to hear your results. I bought the same set up and then decided not to use them - went 3-inch with the Cone Cooling set up instead, but I don't run in the summer as it's just too hot our here.

Absolutely flawless! Brakes seem to last longer and no fade even after a 30+ minute session. I feel more confident standing the car on its nose now then I ever did. Only drawback is that the brakes can take an extra lap or so to heat up because the cooling. I still continue to drink Blue Moon so that keeps a driver fresh! :rolaugh:
