I have a 2010 Viper that came with the standard radio. However, I bought a used Nav unit RB1 from a fellow viper member. I also bought the ipod adapter from Viper Parts America and plan on installing it this weekend. However, I have heard of electrical dash problems on the Gen IV's...and that its hit or miss if it will work properly.
Anyone with a 2009 or 2010 have the ipod kit installed with no issues? any way to determine if I will have an issue before hand? by the way I do not have sirius if that makes a diff.

Thanks

bob

Installed both the RB1 and the Ipod adapter without any problems, I think when you involve a 3rd item such as XM, or sirius module thats when you have issues. not sure about that but in my studies thats what I found.
2010 vert.
Good luck

The fellow Viper owner who I bought the Nav unit from had it in his 08 ACR. However, he bought a 09 ACR with Nav and the ipod kit made his dash go crazy in the 09 and it surprised him as it worked on his 08 with no problem. Perhaps he had sirius or other add on in his 09 Im not sure
I will install the ipod and RB1 Nav system this weekend in my 2010 and let you know how it works out.
Thanks for your input..

CaptinDavid has hit the nail on the head. I did a writeup in Viper Magazine on installing the iPod kit in my '08. You have to leave the satellite radio disconnected and all will work fine. One thing to remember is that the kit was made well before the iPod touch came out so you will have to use the AUX jack instead of the iPod jack. Any questions just feel free to ask here or p.m. :)

Works fine on my '09 with the siris left disconnected. There is a good mounting spot for the adapter high up on the trans tunnel on the driver side btw. And I thought one of the ipod adapters allowed use of the touch or iphone ???

thanks alex...
Question: did you have to buy an additional mopar extension cable to enable the reach from the short radio harness ?
or were you able to complete the install with only the cables provided in the ipod kit?

Thanks

You won't need the extention although I have one you can buy. be sure to put the adapter box on the left side of the tunnel over the gas pedal. there is a perfect spot there for it. If you do that, all the cables will reach. Ipod connector in the center storage box. I've done it both ways. ie glovebox, and left front tunnel. Tunnel is much better.

Cheers

It works!:headbang:
The extension everyone talks about is NOT needed when you locate the ipod controller box on the drivers side trans tunnel wall above the gas peddle. The box velcros right on and
you just have to fish a starter wire ( hanger type wire) through to the radio area and pull the cable that comes with the ipod controller through. Thats the hardest part.:crazy2:

Also the giant white cable that the ipod or ipdone connects to I fished along the bottom of the trans console trim ( tucked it up in there) and fed it all the way back behind the drivers seat. there I attached a "CableJive connector" ( search ebay or amazon) that reconfigures the old ipod connector to enable charging of the newer devices, then I leave all that nonsense there behind the drivers seat while attaching a "black and thinner ipod/phone cable extension" and run that back to the arm rest box or ashtray area. perfect solution.

The music sounds so much better from the iphone or ipod.....

Thanks to all for your help...there is more than one way to instal the ipod controller and all the different versions published helped me determine the rout I wanted to go and I am happy with it. Although ..warning this will not work if you also have Sirius satellite controller plugged in also....so im told...However, I dont have it so its not an issue for me

Thank Guys:2tu::headbang::2tu::drive::usa:

Getting ready to do the same thing with the same radio & kit you have. Could you be a little more specific on your CableJive connector ( went to E-bay and typed cablejive and got over a 100 choices!) you used and also the "Black thinner ipod/phone cable extension. Pictures sure would be great also!

I have a cablejive connector you could have that I bought for my iPod. Don't need it anymore. Just have to find it and its yours. :)
