Does anybody know, when the production lines at CAAP were changed to new MY specs? I know, that it is not unusual to start building let's say MY 2000 in late calender year 1999. But how was it with the Viper?

In my case, I own a '98 RT/10 which was built in November '98, so obviously, production of MY '99 must have started after that. But was it always matching calender year change?

I have read and seen a lot of Viper documentories but this info never came accross so far.

Thanks for closing another personal "knowledge gap" ;-)

It's very interesting to see what some of the VIN's turn up from that era. Doing a quick search we found that the earliest domestic build date for a '99 was 12/3/98. However when we ran a 1999 VIN ending in the 1500's instead of the 2400's we found a European 1999 MY showing a build date of 10/19/98. Perhaps it was because it was an export build and they started those first, but it seems your '98 was built after that. It could also be some sort of anomaly in the records. Note that Prowlers were also built at CAAP during that period, thus the higher ending VIN numbers.

I know we took delivery of our first Viper on 11/18/99 - a 2000 MY GTS. PM your VIN and we will see what we can find for you.

My 2006 was built in Dec 2005. ......I have seen some cars with a production date as early as Feb. of the previous year. (regular cars, not Vipers)

Here's what the label of mine says:

So from your feedback it seems, that also with Viper the production of the new MY had started end of (previous) year. Did they actually have 2 separate production lines at CAAP (one for Viper and one for Prowler)? However, seems that in 1998 there were no Prowlers produced, so maybe they used this production line to start with the Euro spec '99 Viper??

Well, just guessing, I know....

They are starting a new tradition now. They will still be trying to build the 2013 model Viper, and it will be September 2014. Then they will begin 2015 model production in December 2017. :lmao:
