The blue emblem came first on the 2006 coupe. It was white with blue stripes, but not 'commemorative'. It was a VOI car. It was just a color scheme choice I guess. You can replace it if you like, but I think the blue emblem needs the blue lettering as well.

The 1996 is so not a commemorative. It was just a special color scheme, but there was also black with silver fang stripes. It was the last year of GEN I RT/10 though, as the 96 coupe debuted as a GenII. So the special schemes were more about that.

There really isn't a good explanation of what 'commemorative' even means...

Thanks a lot buddy that all makes sense!

I did order a new emblem but Im not going with blue, think the graphite looks classy

Now I just need a pic of rear license frames on commemorative cars to see what looks best.
Thanks all!

Yes, the '96 RT/10 was not a Commemorative Edition car. I was fortunate enough to own one of these which sort of made me trade in my black '04 Gen. III for an '05 Commemorative. One unique feature of the '96 was the white painted wheels - the only car with non-silver painted and non-polished aluminum wheels besides the Gen. I yellow wheel (ketchup and mustard) red cars until the black powder-coated wheels on the Gen. IV ACR. The '96 white/blue was also deemed a Gen. 1 1/2 due to the fact it had everything the Gen. I had except for the side exhaust - which was one of the changes for the Gen. II (rear exhaust). Also, it had clear-coated vinyl fang stripes as opposed to painted.

Derek what kind of frame did you get?! What color at least help me out bud

ohlarikd and flexx thanks for the info. My father had one and this is the car I learned to drive manual on.
Not hard to understand why I've always wanted a Viper and paid a lot extra for a white/blue stripe one, funny

IDM,
I got the SRT-10 frame. Frame is a chrome or polished. With black raised lettering and numbers.
If I don't like the look of it after install I plan to have one made at a local shop. It will be a chrome frame with the newer viper lettering saying viper! My 96' GTS has the viper word on it that's the orginal style viper lettering. Which will look out of place on my CE viper. IMO...

Interesting, I had forgotten about this Corvette. The 04 Commemorative Edition. It was blue with white stripes...

The C5's final year, '04, saw one more special package added to the line: a Commemorative Edition built to honor Chevrolet's C5-R race cars.

The C5 generation ended with the optional Commemorative Edition models, built in tribute to the success the C5-R was having in ALMS and at Le Mans.

Unlike in the '60s, when the corporation was officially out of racing and Duntov had to back-door cars, parts, and support to privateer teams, Chevrolet announced a factory-backed Corvette endurance road-race program in 1998. The first two C5-Rs made their competition debut at the 24-hour Daytona race in 1999, and the car driven by Ron Fellows notched a third Place Finish--an outstanding debut. From there, the C5-Rs built some serious momentum, hitting their stride in 2001 with an overall win at Daytona, followed by First and Second Place finishes in the GTS class at Le Mans, and the American Le Mans Series Manufacturer's Championship. The C5-Rs repeated their ALMS championships again in 2002 and 2003.[/URL]The '04 Commemorative Edition honored that achievement with packages available for all three Corvette models. Coupes

, convertibles, and Z06s could be painted a special Le Mans Blue; the Z06s would also get a carbon-fiber hood plus hood, roof, and trunk stripes that emulated the graphics on the competition models.

I would sell mine for that price right now (5700 miles and also immaculate)! I'll even throw in a Gen. IV hood, chromed 5 spokes with PS2's, Eradispeed drilled & slotted rotors, and Corsa exhaust. And you can have all of the original parts for free!!!

I don't know if you guys saw my other thread.

But I am having to sell my Commemorative #72 to ease the purchase of a house.

Will be fair with pricing. Want a good new owner for it and an easy sale.

If you guys know of anyone please let them know. The car is mint with 8900 miles, completely stock, with the factory warranty until July 2013.

The car is in really good shape. A friend of mine works for Rosner and if anyone is interested get in touch with me and I'll give you the full report. I went and gave it a thorough inspection.

I am in the market for a CE - already talked to Jonne (#32) and IDM (#72) - I know of the one posted earlier in this tread (#49) - looks very nice but too expencive. #90 ( imported from US) were sold recently in Canada. I am allso in contact with CE driving around in Germany (# to follow), but he wont sell - owner just used a fortune to have white leather installed ... hmmm ... :)

I'm strongly considering selling mine (#19). Has 5,900 miles. Send me a PM if you're interested. I may decide to trade it in another week or so.

Any updates on the status of the cars listed so far? I know some of you were in the process of selling. Where are they now?

I still have mine of course.

Any comments on my last post?

The '96 RT/10 was not a Commemorative Edition. It didn't have any special badging, interior, shift console plate/sticker, etc. I had one and sold it back in 2004 right before purchasing my first Gen. III. If I recall correctly, there were about 224 built (maybe 324).
