Later the delivery gets the less people will be willing to pay sticker as well.

When delivery was feb, I think most didn't mind paying MSRP. Now that it is {Insert date here} - well that's a different discussion

For all you guys who are concerned about not getting your car early enough and threatening to cancel your order..GOOD! Maybe that'll free up a car for me!!!

LOL!!

In all seriousness ... if the cars are being delayed it's because SRT has a good reason! (they want to be selling and delivering cars as bad as we ( you) want to be getting them!!)....And you don't want your car until they think it's good to go!
In the end...when your car shows up.....you won't even remember these delays and stuff! and if you do...you'll remember it as part of the process you had to go to ...to get your fantastic car.
It's ALL part of the journey.

I do not have a gen v on order, but if I did, I would be patient and get it when srt has had the chance to do whatever they are doing to make them right. You don't want to be fixing issues at a dealer when they could have been taken care of at the factory if there are any issues. I remember being on the waiting list for 2 years for a new Harley back in the 90's. A lot of people paid anywhere from $2-5k over msrp back then.

Not only is the Gen V a refined design with countless changes from the Gen IV and one that is attempting a major upgrade in what we call quality, but there is a major change in the supply chain vendors. Getting a new production system and suppliers to come together at the same time that a new product is introduced is tough. Once the bugs are resolved in the new production system and with the new suppliers I expect that future models will not experience some of these delays. :2tu:

Frankly, I do not understand this process at all. As my previous note, I have been an avid viper owner since the beginning of the Viper journey.....not to beat a dead horse but....

1. The car is not accredited yet....according to my viper tech.
2. Bugs.....seats, brakes, tires...what else?
3. Giving pre-production cars to the media
4. Ringer ZR1
5. A Ralph road trip documenting other problems.
6. Preferential treatment to certain Canadian orders for Stryker red by the CEO ( if true not another great PR move)
7. Showing Stryker red (great color on the car), advising the color will be available, and getting slammed with a 14,500 price tag. It becomes an elitist color....and drives the price point to where most people are not going to order it ( do not get me wrong....I love the color...)
8. Providing a "track car" but the GTS hood is more aerodynamic ?
9. Overall PR moves...coordination does not seem to be their strong point

Question: when u guys say 35 snakes have been built are u referring to 35 production cars after the 50 dealer reds and 150 Launch Editions (so 235 units) or all together total number including these limited editions?

When I was in Toronto at the auto show, the guy with the Viper, Paul, with SRT, said they "finished Ralphs last week" - and his is a custom order. Now, granted, they could have shifted orders for the CEO - but if they didn't, I'd assume that means they are onto custom vehicles.

But, I have no idea.....

My LE (#101) is scheduled to be finished on 3/22....so based on that info, I don't think they are into the custom orders yet.

My dealer has a LE that has been recently completed, but is still at the factory pending final inspection. He says that SRT still doesn't have federal emissions certification, so even though some cars are built, they can't yet be delivered to customers. He says the dealers are as anxious as we are, but haven't heard back from SRT any new delivery info.

Ralphs car should already be done. His was the second car to come down the line. Right after the first snake was given away.

If yours is 25+ days off, I am starting to be more disappointed. May delivery for that start of custom orders? That is a 7 month order to delivery time frame... SRT may have an issue on its hands if that is the case, people may start looking at other options

Personally I don't see why people are so worried. It's a hand built car in its first model year after being on hiatus for 2 years and a shut down plant, which was completely redone. I guess I was under the assumption people would not see cars until spring at the earliest. And if there is a delay because they are making improvements to the car all the better!

While I agree for the most part, SRT initially said Vipers would be in showrooms in December. Then late February. Now we don't know when. As others have said, SRT should improve communication rather than leave us hanging.

If that's the case they never really wanted the car then.

I see it as multifaceted.

If we get into June for first wave orders, we are edging closer to 2014 and minor changes that come with it (new colors, etc). Plus, the time to enjoy it has diminished for the year for many

SRT and Ralph have been leveraging social media to get out the word on their products, but it is disheartening to see them so silent on this matter over the flagship vehicle of the brand.

Yes, this is how I feel as well.

Same thing happened in 2008 with the new Challenger. They made 6400 SRT-only models and most didn't get to dealer lots until summer 2008, when the 09 model year was gearing up at other marques.

Maybe, they have tweaked the car after taking the beating they took with the Vette. If I were buying one, I'd look at the delay as a positive thing. Seems when SRT listens to its customer base, all that happens is that they get screwed.

So they did this with the 08 ACRs, the Challengers, and now the new Viper. I'm sure they done it with other cars. Maybe we should've expected this to happen.

35 are built...then where are they??

Not sure, but a couple of weeks ago a Black '13 was cruising up hwy 33 here in Ojai with plates that were something like "aack foo" on the plate... a 70's red camero in chase...
I'm sure they had a great time up in the mountains north of Ojai!

I was really shocked to see one here, but then again the 33 is a fantastic road...

Policy, I looked at Automotive News yesterday, SRT reported 62 additional vipers were built last week, and, they reported a revised grand total of something like 170 have now been built. AutoNews gets the production figures from the manufacturers. the definition of built; the car is complete and ready for transport to the dealer.

Finally some encouraging info, I hope it's accurate. If this is true, then they are making about 12 per day. That means they should be finishing up with the LE's and red track pack cars perhaps this week, and starting the custom orders perhaps next week. With any luck, my car will be done in about a month. If I receive it in April, I will be one happy camper. I'll depart this thread with that happy thought, and pray to the mighty Viper gods to make it so.
